Spiazzo lies at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites. Its cultural and historical heritage ranges from frescoes and church history to trails that bring art and landscape together. Nature, sport and local crafts also offer practical ways to explore the character of the destination through your own interests.

Art and History in Spiazzo

Spiazzo’s parish church is dedicated to San Vigilio. Its nave was entirely frescoed by Simone Baschenis de Averara. Spiazzo was also the historic seat of the Pieve di Rendena. The Chapel of San Vigilio di Spiazzo marks the historic route along which Vigilio and the Christians of Trentino brought his body back to the city.

The permanent historical trail “Terra di Molèti” runs from the Pieve di Rendena, with the Church of San Vigilio, to the historic centre of Mortaso. Artworks and information panels tell the story of local emigrant grinders. The Museo Guerra Fronte Adamello adds to this historical perspective with an extensive collection of artefacts.

In Borzago, Cort da Togno is a courtyard in the first settlement of Spiazzo reached from the south when travelling through Val Rendena. The murals there feature proverbs, satire inspired by everyday life and jokes; they often include captions.

Cultural Trails and Landscape

The Via da le Vide starts in Borzago and is dedicated to wooden sculpture. It runs through a forest of centuries-old chestnut trees and along dry-stone walls, with wooden artworks along the way. This easy themed trail is accessible to everyone. Salagad'Art focuses on art along old mule tracks and on Land Art. The route follows a restored old mule track from the village to the hamlet of Teggia di Fisto.

The distinction is clear when choosing between them: the Via da le Vide focuses on wooden sculptures in the forest, while Salagad'Art focuses on Land Art and the old mule track. This gives you the chance to explore two different artistic approaches to trails and landscape.

Hiking, Mountain Biking and Nature

Mountain bike tours on the Dolomiti di Brenta Bike route are possible from Spiazzo. Another way to get active is the official, moderately difficult circular hike “Bocchetta del Cannone – Itinerari della Grande Guerra”. It runs through the Spiazzo area, reaches an altitude of 2,821 metres and follows the traces of the First World War, including trenches, fortifications and military positions. Check current trail conditions before setting out.

The Casa del Parco Acqua Life visitor centre in the municipality of Spiazzo Rendena focuses on the fish species of the River Sarca and the protected area. Visitors to Spiazzo can also take part in activities at Parco Naturale Adamello Brenta. In summer, there is a swimming pool with an Olympic-size pool. As this is a seasonal offering, it is advisable to check current opening arrangements before travelling.

Crafts and Practical Planning

In Spiazzo, you can visit a knife-making workshop. Distilleries and workshops producing gentian liqueur are also open to visitors; you can also learn how wild herbs are processed into food products. Craft workshops can be visited in Borzago. Check local visiting arrangements before travelling.

Spiazzo Rendena can be reached by scheduled buses operated by Trentino Trasporti. If you are considering this option, check the operator’s current timetable in advance. This helps you plan around the specific activities that interest you, from visiting cultural sites to hiking or mountain biking.
