Vetriolo lies on the southern slopes of Panarotta, a 2,002-metre-high mountain equipped for alpine skiing. Mineral water containing arsenic and iron emerges at the surface in the village. The strong-flowing water rises underground in the “Canopa” cave. The alpine landscape and thermal waters offer two distinct starting points for your stay: the mountain scenery around Panarotta and the thermal facilities at the Palazzo delle Terme. When planning your trip, you can first consider whether walks, cycling routes or a visit to the Palazzo should be your main focus.

Thermal Facilities and Gardens

Thermal baths, inhalations and physiotherapy are offered at the Palazzo delle Terme under an agreement with the Italian National Health Service. The Palazzo also has a large solarium, a swimming pool and a hot tub. The gardens include an amphitheatre on a natural terrace overlooking the lakes and hills of the Valsugana. Access to the Palazzo in Vetriolo is via a reception area with an adjoining bar. Check the current operating conditions before visiting.

Walks and Cycling Routes

Numerous trekking and mountain biking routes lead from Vetriolo into the Lagorai mountain range and towards the Valle dei Mocheni. The forests of Panarotta and the forest roads offer less demanding and more accessible walking trails. You can use the type of activity—trekking, mountain biking or walking—as a first guide when choosing your route. Conditions on individual trails may vary.

The “MTB - Giro delle Pozze 2352” mountain bike route starts at the thermal centre of Vetriolo Terme. The “eBike - Vetriolo Terme” route runs from the Infopoint on Viale Vittorio Emanuele towards Vetriolo Terme and onwards to the village of Compet. The return route follows the paved “dei Baiti” road through the forest. The route also leads to a launch platform for free flight, with panoramic views. In favourable conditions, hang gliders and paragliders may be seen in the sky. Vetriolo Terme is also a waypoint on the cycling route to the Panarotta car park.

Village Character, Culture and Getting There

The Chiesa della Madonna della Neve in Vetriolo was built in 1940. At Pian della Casara in the village of Vetriolo Terme stands “Lupa del Lagorai,” a sculpture by Venetian artist Marco Martalar. The climb from Levico Terme to Vetriolo also has a connection to cycling: it has hosted challenges for Giro d’Italia riders on several occasions. The church, sculpture and sporting history offer different perspectives on the village.

For the 2026 season, the MOVE high-altitude transport service ran from Lago di Caldonazzo via Levico Terme and Vetriolo Terme to Panarotta. It used a bus with eight seats and a trailer for bicycles and e-bikes. The service ran every weekend in June, daily in July and August, and until 13 September. If you are travelling in a later season, check the timetable that applies then.
