Climbing El Morro de Montecristi offers panoramic views of the Atlantic. Nearby, the Cayos Siete Hermanos offer a different focus: snorkelling and day and night dives at a depth of three metres are listed as options; according to the tourist description, the area is also suitable for beginners.

Climbs, water and seasonal nature

The two experiences have different focuses: at El Morro, the climb and the views take centre stage, while at the Cayos, the emphasis is on activities in the water. You can consider whether you would rather include a viewpoint or snorkelling and diving in your nature experiences.

The Cayos Siete Hermanos are described as the most important nesting site for boobies in the Dominican Republic. Their nesting season usually runs from late May to early September. If you are interested in boobies, you can take this time frame into account when planning your trip. It describes the usual period, but does not guarantee the same pattern every year.

Visitors interested in architecture and history will find two distinct points of interest there: the design of the village model and the museum’s collection.

At the 27 Charcos de Damajagua, a hike leads through dense forest and over footbridges. Then, wearing a helmet and safety equipment, you can jump or slide down waterfalls into turquoise pools. Check the current safety guidance when planning this activity.

Santo Domingo’s Malecón has marked cycling and inline skating lanes, promenades and seating by the sea; it was renovated in 2017. As infrastructure can change over time, it is best to check current conditions before visiting.
