If you choose a destination for its scenery, Toiny offers a clear connection to the coast. At Toiny Beach, Atlantic waves meet an open, unspoiled coastline with striking scenery. The beach often attracts surfers looking for good conditions. There are also viewpoints along Toiny’s southeast coast. They provide a second scenic perspective alongside the beach: the surf and open coastline stand out as distinct features, as do the viewpoints.

Saint Barthélemy in its regional context

Saint Barthélemy also offers distinct connections to scenery, culture, and activities. Colombier Beach offers panoramic views across the island. At Fort Gustav and Fort Karl, viewpoints offer panoramas over Gustavia Bay. These provide two different perspectives on the landscape: views across the island and a panorama of Gustavia Bay.

Dinzey House, also known as Le Brigantin, is in Gustavia on Saint Barthélemy. The house was built around 1820 and survived the great fire of 1852. It has been listed as a historic monument since April 17, 1990. The construction date, survival of the fire, and later listing provide a clear timeline for the house: it was built before the 1852 fire, and its listing followed on April 17, 1990.

The Saint Barthélemy Marine Reserve includes waters around Île de Fourchue as well as the bays of Colombier and Petite Anse. It also includes the bays of Marigot, Grand Cul-de-Sac, and Petit Cul-de-Sac, extending to the Îlets Grenadins. The waters around Îlets Gros Ilet, Pain de Sucre, Frégate, and Toc Vers are also part of the reserve. Îlets are small islands; the Saint Barthélemy Marine Reserve therefore encompasses two geographic features: waters around islands and the named bays as parts of the reserve.

Marine life, especially turtles and fish, can be observed in the Grand Cul-de-Sac lagoon. The lagoon can also be explored by transparent kayak; availability may vary. Check whether this option is available before making plans. You can swim at Lorient Beach; surfing is possible there depending on conditions. The activities therefore differ in concrete ways: observation and kayaking in Grand Cul-de-Sac, swimming and condition-dependent surfing in Lorient.

Public is a waterfront neighborhood on the outskirts of Gustavia, whose character is shaped by port activity. Saint Barthélemy Airport is located in the Bay of Saint-Jean. The distinction helps with orientation: Public is a neighborhood on the outskirts of Gustavia, while Saint-Jean is the name of the bay where the airport is located.
