Discover Bustos through several distinct cultural themes: radio history, historic architecture and religious landmarks. When planning your trip, it helps to decide which of these themes you would like to focus on. Radiolândia – Museu do Rádio is devoted exclusively to radio; the Palacete do Visconde is a building dating from 1906 with a lookout tower in its garden. There is also a chapel inaugurated in 1988 and an image of Our Lady of Fátima beside the Igreja Matriz de Bustos. These themes offer different points of interest, which you can prioritize according to your preferences.

Radiolândia – Museu do Rádio

Radiolândia – Museu do Rádio is Portugal’s only museum devoted exclusively to radio. Its collection is based on the private collection of Manuel Silva from Bustos and includes some of the rarest and most significant radios of the 20th century. The museum includes a modern exhibition area, museum storage rooms open to visitors and various technical areas. The collection, exhibition and technology offer different points of interest for anyone interested in radio. Visits can be accompanied by a guide on request. If you would like a guided visit, let the museum know when planning your visit.

Palacete do Visconde: Architecture and Lookout Tower

The Palacete do Visconde is a centuries-old building constructed in 1906 in an eclectic or hybrid architectural style. A striking detail can be found in the garden: there stands a lookout tower with a hexagonal floor plan. At the top of its pinnacle is a wingless, serpentine dragon. The floor plan and the crowning figure describe two distinct aspects of the tower: its geometric shape and the figurative motif at its peak. Anyone interested in architectural forms and individual details will find both in this building.

Chapel, Church and Image

The chapel dedicated to Dr. José Gregório Hernandez was inaugurated in 1988. Compared with the Palacete, built in 1906, its inauguration marks a later point in time. Beside the Igreja Matriz de Bustos, an image of Our Lady of Fátima stands on a rock to one side. Together, the chapel and the image offer two distinct religious points of interest: the dedication of a chapel and the depiction on the rock beside the church.
