Accommodation in Laroles
Laroles is a starting point for hiking through the landscapes of the Sierra Nevada. Holm oak and pine forests are part of the local scenery, as is the view that stretches through the gorge of the Río Adra to the Mediterranean Sea. If you are looking for hotels in Laroles, you can narrow down the purpose of your trip: scenery and hiking, culture in the village, or a combination of both. The trails and sights offer different options to consider.
Hiking trails and scenery around Laroles
For a short walk from Laroles, you can reach Fuente de Mauricio, a spring that was recently restored. A longer hiking route with a destination of its own is the SLA 272 Ruta del Castaño Milenario. It starts at the viewpoint by the 18th-century Ermita de San Sebastián, crosses the Río Laroles and leads to a centuries-old chestnut tree. Its large branches hang down to the ground, defining the route’s destination.
The two sections of the GR-7 also differ in their routes. The Laroles–Puerto de la Ragua section connects Laroles with Puerto de la Ragua and passes through high alpine landscapes. The Laroles–Válor section starts in Laroles and follows former connecting routes through the Alpujarra. The natural pass of La Ragua is also near Laroles. Historically, it served as a route for people and goods between the Guadix area and the Marquesado, and the Alpujarra.
Parque Río Laroles lies beside the Río Laroles in a deep, densely vegetated gorge. There is outdoor exercise equipment, and the park is suitable for walking, hiking and relaxing. As well as the hiking routes described, trails and recreation in a gorge landscape are possible ways to spend your time in Laroles.
