Santa Ana la Real is located in the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche Natural Park, which is part of the Dehesas de Sierra Morena Biosphere Reserve. Different themes can shape your trip: nature trails, a waterfall, astronomical information and the historic townscape. When looking for a hotel, you can consider which of these interests will guide your plans.

Trails, woodland and a waterfall

The Bosque de las Letras is a tourist and cultural route of about five kilometres that starts and ends in Santa Ana la Real. Literary texts are displayed at several reading points in the natural surroundings. This means that engaging with literature is as much a part of the route as the landscape. The Sendero de Las Coscojas (SL-A 284) offers a different focus: this circular route starts and ends in La Presa, a hamlet of Santa Ana la Real, and passes through chestnut woodland and along paths among holm and cork oaks. The El Risco de Levante trail starts near the Fuente de los Tres Caños.

The Chorros de Joyarancón is a waterfall more than 15 metres high, with its strongest flow after rain. The approach starts at the Puente de Los Casares. From there, you cross the river twice and then follow a path through pine and chestnut trees. As rain can affect the river crossings, check conditions before your visit. Planning this outing therefore means considering both the waterfall and the specific route to reach it.

A themed trail focused on the night sky

The Ruta Astronómica is a circular trail about 2.5 kilometres long. Its themes include the solar system, navigating at night and identifying the main constellations. Information boards combine text and images, while QR codes provide additional audio information. There is also a granite table for observing the sky with a telescope. Unlike the literary theme of the Bosque de las Letras, this route focuses on astronomy. If you are interested in the stars and navigation, this offers another distinct consideration when planning your stay.

Church, square and historic details

The parish church stands in Plaza de España and dates from the mid-18th century. It is listed as a historic building under Grade I heritage protection. The church and Plaza de España ensemble, along with its surroundings, are protected as a setting. More architectural details can be seen at the Fuente de los Tres Caños: three symmetrically arranged spouts are set into a hexagonal glazed-ceramic structure, above a round stone basin. The lime kilns are also designated as ethnographic cultural assets for protection, interpretation and enhancement. Some individual kilns may be in a limited state of preservation.

Orientation and accessible facilities

An app is available at the Bosque de las Letras for blind visitors. NaviLens tags are included on the information boards along the Bosque de las Letras, Ruta Geológica and Ruta Botánica. Use of digital aids may depend on device compatibility and coverage; check these requirements in advance. The municipality provides two Joëlettes for visitors with mobility impairments to use on local routes and trails. Before your trip, check whether their use requires a reservation or support from volunteers.
