For trip planning, the themes of nature, trails, cultural heritage and olive oil can be clearly distinguished in Torre Del Campo. Bosque de la Bañizuela and the various routes represent nature and outdoor activity; historic buildings and recurring cultural events offer different focal points. Route length, estimated walking time and difficulty level can help you assess the trails and choose a focus that suits your stay.

Nature and trails around Torre Del Campo

Bosque de la Bañizuela is protected as a natural monument within the RENPA network. Mediterranean woodland and old trees define the area. The Arrayán de La Bañizuela is another notable natural feature, designated as a remarkable individual specimen. The focus is therefore on both a protected woodland landscape and a single, specially highlighted tree.

The Sendero Cerro Miguelico is a 2.2-kilometre circular trail, with an estimated walking time of one hour and 15 minutes. The Vía Verde del Aceite runs through Torre Del Campo and is intended for cycling and walking. Its users include cyclists, pedestrians and people with reduced mobility.

The section of the Camino Mozárabe between Jaén and Torre Del Campo offers a different scale: it is about 13 kilometres long and classified as moderate. By comparison, the Sendero Cerro Miguelico is considerably shorter and has an estimated walking time. The two routes can therefore be assessed using different planning information: the circular trail by time, and the Camino by length and difficulty level.

For the Ruta de la Ascensión al Pico Jabalcuz, it is recommended that you start at the former Torre Del Campo station on the Vía Verde del Aceite. This recommendation gives you a specific starting point for planning your route.

Building history and cultural heritage

The Torre Olvidada can be visited freely; confirm access conditions before your visit. The cylindrical medieval tower has a diameter of eight metres and a surviving height of about 3.5 metres. Its measurements and surviving height give a concrete impression of the structure's form.

The Iglesia de San Bartolomé preserves elements of a medieval building project, while most of its present form dates from the 16th century. The church also houses the Cristo de la Vera Cruz, dating from the 16th century. Its building history thus combines older elements with a form that was largely shaped later.

The Castillo del Berrueco is a rural castle of Islamic origin. After its conquest by the Castilians, it was extensively rebuilt. The Ermita de Santa Ana is located on the eastern side of Cerro Miguelico.

Events and local culture

The Festival Flamenco Juanito Valderrama is a recurring cultural event in Torre Del Campo. In 2026, it reached its 30th edition. The Noche de las Migas is a traditional gastronomic event; public registration is available for participation.

The Romería de Santa Ana takes place on the first Sunday in May and is recognised as an event of national tourist interest. It includes a rociera Mass and a procession of the patron saint over the hill.

Olive oil as a theme for your stay

Oleocampo organises guided visits to olive farms and mills, as well as workshops on olive oil tasting and its uses. Check dates and booking options in advance. The Centro de Interpretación de Torredelcampo at Oleocampo focuses on the properties and uses of olive oil.

In January 2023, Oleocampo had a newly redesigned visitor reception area and an Oleoteca for people interested in learning about olive-growing culture. Check the current status of the facilities and offerings before visiting. This allows you to include olive oil in your trip planning through visits, workshops and information about its properties and uses.
