Las Navas de la Concepción: Hiking, Mills and Nature
Accommodation in Las Navas De La Concepción
Las Navas de la Concepción lies entirely within the Sierra Norte de Sevilla Natural Park. The destination combines named hiking trails and another hiking area with traces of historic grain milling. For planning your trip, both specific route features and event dates are of interest: the two circular trails can be distinguished by length and permitted uses, while individual events are assigned different dates.
Hiking among riverside forests and mills
The PR-A 412 – Los Molinos de Ciudadeja circular trail is 10.3 kilometres long and has a low level of difficulty. It starts at Plaza de España and passes through a riverside forest to the Ribera de Ciudadeja. Along the route are historic hydraulic mills, dams, weirs and buildings associated with the former grain-milling industry. The trail therefore combines a river and forest section with the structural remains of mill use. If you are interested in this former use, you can consider it alongside the route itself.
The Vereda de Constantina–Camino del Túnel circular trail is 9.88 kilometres long and also has a low level of difficulty. It can be used on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. Its last maintenance dates to 30 June 2015; check the trail conditions before using it.
The two circular trails are similar in length, but differ in their stated highlights and permitted uses. The PR-A 412 features riverside forest, the Ribera and mill remains along the route; the Vereda can be used not only for walking but also for cycling and horse riding. Your choice may therefore depend on both the trail’s theme and your preferred way of getting around. Toma de la Molineta in Las Navas de la Concepción is another hiking area and a separate point of interest alongside the two circular trails.
Sights, dates and cuisine
The Ruins of the Armada are a sight in Las Navas de la Concepción. A three-day fair dedicated to ecotourism and rural traditions takes place every year in March and has been held since 2005. It offers a recurring reason to plan a trip if you would like to schedule your stay around this theme.
A tourism guide published in 2010 gives the third Sunday in August as the date of the Romería de Nuestra Señora de Belén and Ermita Nuestra Señora de Belén as its location. If you are planning your trip around it, confirm the programme for the relevant year locally. Caldereta de venado is part of the cuisine of Las Navas de la Concepción.
Hotels and reasons to visit
When looking for a hotel, you can use the reason for your trip as your first filter. For a hiking-focused stay, the route’s character and permitted uses are relevant; for an event, the calendar is key. This separates two different planning questions: what would you like to experience on the trails, and which event should determine your travel dates? For the Romería, check the current programme locally before booking.
