Lardiés: Hiking Trails and Historic Houses
Accommodation in Lardiés
For a trip to Lardiés, hiking and architectural history go well together. A section of the PR-HU 6 climbs from Fiscal to the village; a circular route through Lardiés, Berroy, and Asué offers different highlights, with pine forest, a variety of trail sections, and the abandoned village of Berroy. In the village itself, points of interest range from the Iglesia de Santa Águeda and the small square in front of it to details of Casa Perico and Casa Tapia. These highlights give you different starting points when looking for a hotel for a trip focused on trails and local history.
Hiking Trails with Different Profiles
After leaving Fiscal near the tourist office, the PR-HU 6 section climbs to Lardiés along a farm track. The climb is therefore part of the route connecting Fiscal with the village.
The circular route from Fiscal via Lardiés, Berroy, and Asué reaches Lardiés along a footpath through a lush pine forest. At the highest point of the village, there is a drinking fountain and a water tank. From Lardiés, the marked trail climbs toward Berroy. The final section to Berroy follows a steep track into the abandoned village of Berroy and offers spectacular views. From the highest part of the abandoned village of Berroy, the trail continues; the section that follows is level as far as Pardina de Asué. The circular route returns to Fiscal via the Bergua track.
Comparing the routes, the PR-HU 6 section can be distinguished above all by its farm-track climb from Fiscal to Lardiés. The circular route combines a series of different trail types: the footpath through the pine forest, the marked climb toward Berroy, a steep track, and the level section to Pardina de Asué.
Church and Settlement Layout
The Iglesia de Santa Águeda stands in the center of Lardiés, with a small square in front of it. The settlement is arranged in two horizontal bands connected by a steep street. The church and square provide a specific point of reference, while the two bands and the link between them describe the village’s broader spatial layout.
Architecture and Historical Clues
Casa Perico was built using traditional techniques and materials. On the ground floor, there is an off-center entrance door; its round arch is made of very short voussoirs. Two different aspects come together here: the off-center placement describes the position of the entrance, while the round arch and voussoirs further define its shape and construction. This makes it possible to understand the building method not just as a general feature, but through a specific detail.
Casa Tapia bears the oldest date recorded in Lardiés: 1787. Together, the two houses offer different perspectives on local history: Casa Perico through its construction and doorway, and Casa Tapia through a dated inscription.
