In Ea, beach time, a historic town center and walking trails come together. When looking for a hotel in Ea, you can choose your focus based on whether you mainly want to swim, explore the town center or take a route.

Beach and walking routes in Ea

Swimming is possible at Playa de Ea beach, which has public showers. If you would like to add a walking excursion to your stay, Ea has several named routes and destinations. These include the Talako Ama viewpoint, which can be reached via a walking trail from the port of Ea.

The PR BI 169 Ea, por el Camino de los Reyes route is rated easy and is 4.8 kilometers long. Its length and rating offer different points of reference for planning: the distance describes the route, while the rating classifies it as easy. Check current trail conditions before setting out. The BUS01 Ea-Erreketa route follows a different course: it runs along the Ría de Ea and the Argiñerreka stream before reaching the Ferrería de Urtubiaga. This lets you choose between a route with a stated length and rating and a route following the named waterways to this historic complex.

Town scenery and churches

In the town center, traditional, colorful fishermen’s houses line narrow streets and canals, which are crossed by bridges. Two Romanesque-style bridges are also part of the town center. The churches add different architectural styles to this historic setting: San Juan Bautista is a Renaissance church, while Santa María de Jesús is a Baroque church. Those interested in architecture can consider the two styles separately while also taking in the bridges, canals and fishermen’s houses as further elements of the townscape.

FerrerĂa y Molino Urtubiaga

FerrerĂa y Molino Urtubiaga is a residential and production complex comprising four interconnected buildings. Its hydraulic system includes a weir, a channel and a regulating basin. A stone bridge stands opposite the buildings. Since 2013, the complex in Ea (Bizkaia) has been listed in the General Inventory of Basque Cultural Heritage as a Cultural Asset in the Monumental Complex category.

This complex differs from the churches and bridges in the town center: the focus here is on the interconnected residential and production buildings and their hydraulic system. Together with the Renaissance and Baroque churches, it offers a concrete way to explore different aspects of Ea’s historic heritage. Route BUS01 also leads to Ferrería de Urtubiaga; including it in your plans connects its course along the Ría de Ea and the Argiñerreka stream with this destination.
