Puerto Rico: Beach, Harbor and Leisure
Accommodation in Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico offers a sheltered beach, a harbor and a variety of leisure activities. You can tailor your stay in different ways: spend time by the water, enjoy water sports, go for walks, or explore games and shopping. If you’re looking for a hotel in Puerto Rico, it helps to first consider which of these activities are most important for your trip.
Beach and water at Playa de Puerto Rico
Playa de Puerto Rico has calm, sheltered waters and fine golden sand. The beach offers rentals of water sports equipment, sun loungers and parasols; toilets, showers and foot-washing stations are also available. This makes it easy to plan a beach day around either relaxation or specific activities in the water. If you want to use a particular rental service, check its availability before your visit.
Harbor and activities at sea
Puerto Deportivo de Puerto Rico consists of two harbor basins with a combined six hectares of sheltered water and 531 berths. It accommodates boats up to 60 meters long. Deep-sea fishing is also among the maritime activities available: the waters off Puerto Rico are suitable for it, and specially equipped boats are available in the harbor.
The calm seas and light winds along the coasts of Puerto Rico are also suitable for diving, parasailing and sailing. Companies offer courses and rentals of the necessary equipment. Puerto Rico Diving Center runs weekly snorkeling trips to explore the waters of Gran Canaria from the surface. Check the current schedule for these trips before your visit.
Games and leisure activities
Parque Urbano de Puerto Rico reopened after extensive redevelopment. It has accessible and inclusive play areas, including areas for children with disabilities and play zones for children up to three years old and for children aged three to fourteen. Existing trees provide natural shade over a picnic area. The different play zones have clearly defined age ranges, while the picnic area offers another reason to spend time in the park.
Angry Birds Activity Park in Puerto Rico covers 5,000 m². Attractions include zip lines, climbing areas, trampolines, mini golf, ice skating, a racetrack and a splash zone. With a day ticket, you can leave the park and return as often as you like throughout the day. Individual facilities may change over time, so check what is currently available before your visit.
Mogán Mall is an open-air shopping center with facilities covering more than 15,000 m². It has shops, leisure areas, cafés and restaurants, as well as a large illuminated fountain. Alongside the beach and water sports, it offers another way to include leisure activities and shopping in your travel plans.
Walk to Amadores
The Paseo Marítimo, about one kilometer long, connects Puerto Rico with Amadores and is easy to walk. This short route is a convenient option if you’d like to include a walk in your plans; it offers a different way to spend time away from the beach and harbor activities.
