Font-rubí brings together vineyards, fields and olive groves with wooded hills and numerous natural springs. This mix shapes the character of the destination: landscapes, historic sites and local produce sit side by side. When planning a trip to Font-rubí, you can therefore focus on several themes, from views and routes to cultural heritage and wine.

Landscapes, views and routes

From the Miravinya El Balcó viewpoint, on a clear day you can see across the Penedès plain as far as the Mediterranean Sea. The viewpoint thus offers a sweeping panorama of a landscape also shaped by vineyards and wooded hills. One condition is important when planning your visit: the view as far as the sea is available on clear days.

Font-rubí also has three main routes that connect with one another. They are circular routes, distinguished by the colours blue, green and red. Shortcuts provide further route options. When planning your walks, you can start by choosing a colour and deciding between completing the full loop or taking a shortcut. This makes the route system easy to understand without reducing the different options to a single trail.

Historic paths and buildings

El Castellot combines early construction history with the strategic importance of a route: its first building phase is believed to date from the late 9th century. The site was used to monitor the Via Mercadera, also known as the Carrerada. A steep path to El Castellot starts at the cemetery of the church of Sant Pere i Sant Feliu in the centre of Font-rubí. Take the incline into account when planning your visit. The church itself has another architectural detail: the side entrance bears the year 1742 and has remnants of a sundial.

La Carrerada is also part of Font-rubí’s history of routes. The route crosses the municipality from one end to the other and was used as a transhumance route. Alongside the monitoring of a strategic route, this highlights its historic use for moving livestock. Both its strategic function and its connection to traditional seasonal migrations are therefore relevant to the area’s history.

At Sant Vicenç del Morrocurt, the apse, north wall and bell tower remain. You can reach the site by car, or leave your vehicle in the Santa Maria de Bellver neighbourhood and begin a short walk from there. These are the two options described for visiting: driving there or taking the short walk from Santa Maria de Bellver. Which you choose depends on how you want to fit this visit into your plans.

Wine, local produce and events

Cava producers and wineries in Font-rubí offer tours and wine tourism experiences. Local products available for tasting include wine, cava, cured meats, bread and olive oil. This selection combines drinks with other products from the region. If you are particularly interested in the wine tradition, you can find both tours at cava producers and wineries and a variety of local products to taste.

The recurring Cicle de Cava Jazz pairs jazz with cava from Font-rubí on one Saturday a month from January to May. Recent editions have taken place at the Centre recreatiu “La Cooperativa” in Guardiola de Font-rubí; the venue and programme may change. The annual Fira Vinòleum puts local products in the spotlight, particularly wine, olive oil and other high-quality agricultural and food products from the region. The event includes wine and olive oil tastings, workshops, activities for children and concerts; the specific offerings vary from one edition to another. If you would like to include an event in your trip, check the dates and programme for the relevant edition.
