Gualba: Town Centre, Stream and Cultural Heritage
Accommodation in Gualba
Gualba brings together a town centre, waterways, historic religious architecture and local festive traditions. Its different places and events offer a range of ways to explore the area.
Town Centre and Stream
Passeig Montseny runs through the town centre for approximately 600 metres. Its first section, lined with plane trees, leads to the centre of Gualba and forms its main thoroughfare. The Riera de Gualba forms notable waterfalls, including Gorg Negre and Salt de Gualba. In a small area, two distinct landscape features meet: the town’s main thoroughfare and the waterways with their named waterfalls.
Walks and Trails
The Itinerari de patrimoni i entorn is a walk on the edge of Gualba, with the stream and its promenade as its central features. Near Torrent de Can Sivina, a section of the CamĂ Ral de Gualba runs as a wide walking trail to the town of Gualba. Trail conditions may change; check locally before setting out.
The two route descriptions focus on different things: the Itinerari centres on the stream and promenade at the edge of town, while the section of the CamĂ Ral follows Torrent de Can Sivina to the town.
Churches and Architectural History
Sant Vicenç de Gualba is the parish church in the centre of Gualba de Dalt. Significant parts of the building’s 11th-century appearance have been preserved on its façade and in the apse area. The former chapel of Sant Cristòfol has a different documented history: it has been mentioned in records since 1328 and was rebuilt in 1587. The church and chapel thus represent different historical landmarks in Gualba.
Festivals in Gualba
The Fira de Gualba, Vall de Fetilleres, is an established summer festival. Its 12th edition was scheduled for 1 August 2026; the programme for that edition was to include a craft market, street performances, live music, theatre, workshops and family activities. These programme items illustrate the festival’s range of themes without anticipating a future date or programme.
At an edition of the Fira de Bruixes de Gualba in September 2022, stalls selling crafts as well as esoteric and food products were set up along Passeig Montseny and at Plaça Joan Ragué. The programme also included tarot readings, talks, exhibitions and the theatrical performance “El retorn de les Bruixes”. These examples refer to that edition. Another tradition in Gualba is the Sant Joan bonfire, which is lit in the square in the evening, after dark.
