Lliçà de Vall brings together nature and a clearly defined local history. When looking for a hotel in Lliçà de Vall, it helps to decide what you want to focus on during your trip: the Voltes trails and Bosc Codern draw attention to the woodland and landscape, while the Església de Sant Cristòfol, Can Coll and the ice houses of Can Gurri put cultural history and architecture centre stage. The Tenes runs through the town from north to south. Alongside wooded areas, there is still land used for agriculture; the forests are home to pine, oak and holm oak. The C-17, C-155 and BV-1602 provide good road connections. This gives you both a thematic guide for your stay and named road connections to help plan your journey.

Forest paths and landscape

The Voltes de Lliçà de Vall paths are signposted and suitable for families. Along the routes, information boards describe the town’s main historical and natural attractions. This means the paths offer not only a nature experience, but also a chance to explore the history and landscape of Lliçà de Vall.

At Bosc Codern, the woodland landscape comes into clearer focus: north of the houses there is a small park with benches and a spring. Several paths lead from the park into the forest, which consists mainly of pine trees; oak and holm oak also grow there. A botanical circular route near Bosc Codern was planned for the second phase of the Voltes project. This distinguishes the signposted Voltes paths from the circular route planned as part of that project phase.

Architectural history and the ice industry

The church in Lliçà de Vall is documented as a parish church from 1038. The Església de Sant Cristòfol is a 17th- and 18th-century church; its interior is Late Gothic, while its portal is in the Renaissance style. The apse features a mural painted in 1979 by Argentine artist Raul Capitani Blanchart. Can Coll is also part of the town’s cultural history: in 1949, the Spanish state declared it a “Bien Cultural de Interès Nacional” (BCIN), or Cultural Asset of National Interest.

A programme for guided visits published on 9 June 2026 also mentions paintings by the Cubist artist Maties Palau Ferré in the chapel of Can Coll. A significant ice industry developed along the Tenes River. The Pous de glaç de Can Gurri consist of two ice pits on a river terrace by the Tenes. One of the Can Gurri ice houses has been restored and fitted with an indoor walkway for visitors.

The Festa del Glaç takes place on the last weekend of October around the two Can Gurri ice houses. If you would like to plan your trip around this event, check that year’s programme in advance. Lliçà de Vall’s ice history encompasses several aspects: the former industry on the Tenes, the ice pits and the festival at the ice houses.
