Palau-solità i Plegamans offers a range of ways to enjoy a stay filled with nature and cultural experiences: four tourist routes, Parc de l'Hostal del Fum, museums and historic buildings. If you are looking for a hotel for a visit to the town, these themes can help shape your travel plans. First decide whether you would mainly like to spend time outdoors, explore collections or learn about the history of architecture.

Routes and getting around

The four tourist routes are designed to introduce visitors to the municipality’s natural landscape and cultural heritage in a healthy and sustainable way. The municipal route programme also includes a cycling route. The routes can be started at different points; physical directional signs, GPS tracks and QR codes help with navigation. Signs and digital information may change, so check the latest guidance before setting out.

The route through the modern architectural heritage runs entirely through the town centre.

Park and Tren de Palau

The enclosed Parc de l'Hostal del Fum covers 35,000 square metres. Native vegetation, paths, a stream and ponds define the grounds. The park is also a habitat: small mammals find shelter there, and birds use it as a nesting site. This combination of landscape and habitats makes the park a destination for anyone who would like to include nature in their stay.

The 3.1-kilometre-long Tren de Palau railway runs through the park. It offers a fun and comfortable way to see the park and is one of its main attractions. If you would like to include a ride in your plans, check the current operating hours before your visit.

Museums and cultural visits

The Museu-Arxiu de la Fundació Folch i Torres is open to the public and to researchers. It preserves the works, as well as biographical and bibliographical material, of the five brothers Manuel, Lluís, Josep Maria, Ignasi and Joaquim Folch i Torres. The permanent exhibition includes, among other things, Josep Maria Folch i Torres’s study, portraits, busts and paintings of the brothers, complete collections and original manuscripts. It is advisable to check the current visiting arrangements in advance.

The Museu Internacional del Titella de Catalunya offers a different kind of collection. Located in the Masia de Can Falguera, it displays puppets from around the world, as well as techniques for playing and manipulating them. While the Museu-Arxiu focuses on the works and life stories of the Folch i Torres brothers, this museum turns its attention to puppets and the ways they are moved and performed.

Churches, architecture and events

The Església Parroquial de Santa Maria de Palau-solità was consecrated on 14 November 1122. Santa Maria de Palau-solità is a Romanesque church; surviving Romanesque sections stand alongside later additions. The building therefore brings together both Romanesque elements and changes from later periods.

More recent architectural history also reveals a range of approaches. The present-day parish church of Sant Genís was designed by Puig Boada and consecrated in 1946. Casa Folch is a Noucentisme-style summer house that once belonged to the writer Josep M. Folch i Torres. Escoles Velles, meanwhile, is a rationalist building created by Josep M. Sert in 1934. These examples help distinguish different architectural characters rather than reducing the town’s history to a single era.

Castell de Plegamans hosts a music programme on its terraces and in its gardens; it also holds the annual Mercat Medieval. If an event is important to your travel plans, check the date of that year’s edition. The park, museums, churches and architectural route each offer a different focus: you can shape your stay around whichever of these interests you most.
