Discover Seva: Trails and History
Accommodation in Seva
Seva is one of the municipalities in the Parc Natural del Montseny and offers several options for planning your trip: walking trails, historic buildings and memorial sites. If you’re looking for a hotel in Seva, you can decide whether to spend more of your time exploring the countryside or discovering the history of the town.
Walking trails and routes of varying lengths
The Ruta dels Molins is a 5.2-kilometre circular trail with an elevation gain of 142 metres, suitable for all audiences. Stops along the way include the remains of the Molí de Sors. The trail passes through dense woodland and also includes a short botanical trail. This circular route therefore combines a look at the remains of historic mills with an introduction to nature and plant life.
Another hike leads to the Pont d'en Gatus: the route passes through small pastures, poplar groves and young oak woods. The walk to the Pont d'en Gatus or the Molí dels Sors is listed as taking about two hours and covering around 7.8 kilometres. By comparison, the Ruta dels Molins has a shorter stated distance and a specified elevation gain, while the Pont d'en Gatus hike comes with an approximate duration and descriptions of the landscapes along the way.
Two other walks are each 6.7 kilometres long. One leads to the rural chapel of Santa Madrona, the other to the Menhir de Perafita. Their equal distances make the destinations easy to compare: the focus at Santa Madrona is a chapel, while the Menhir is a stone monument.
Architectural history and memorial sites
Santa Maria de Seva retains its nave and bell tower from the 12th century. The tower has a completely square base with sides measuring six metres, stands 16.5 metres tall and is divided into six levels. These measurements and its clear structure give the building distinctive features to look for on a visit focused on the architecture itself.
The original Sagrera de Seva is also part of the town’s history. It was fortified as early as the 14th century and surrounded by walls and gates. Mas Sors represents another historical period: it dates back to the 13th century and retains a Gothic window with a curvilinear arch. These sites offer a chance to explore Seva’s architectural history through different periods and surviving details.
The Creu del Carlí commemorates the Carlist soldier Fernando Lanzuela, who died on 23 August 1873. From Seva cemetery, the monument can be reached via a forest track in just over 20 minutes. This destination combines the memory of a specific person with a short description of the route.
Culture and local information
You can also visit the Museu de la Forja de Víctor Ibañez in the municipal building. The museum adds another cultural attraction to the trails and historic buildings. The Oficina de Turisme provides information about services and other facilities in the Parc Natural del Montseny.
To plan your stay, you can sort the destinations described here by distance and interest: the Ruta dels Molins is listed as a circular trail with an elevation gain, while the Pont d'en Gatus hike has an approximate duration and further details about the landscape. The two 6.7-kilometre walks lead to different historical destinations. This makes it easy to plan your hotel stay in Seva around the trails and sights that interest you most.
