If you’re looking for a hotel in Tiana, you can start by considering what you want your trip to focus on: hikes in the Parc de la Serralada de Marina, wine and recurring festivals, or buildings with a history of their own. These different attractions give you practical ways to plan your stay around your interests, without any one activity defining the destination.

Hiking trails in the Parc de la Serralada de Marina

The Parc de la Serralada de Marina covers an area of 3,032 hectares. It includes parts of the municipal areas of Tiana, Badalona, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Montcada i Reixac and Sant Fost de Campsentelles. Three local routes with different descriptions are worth considering for hikes in Tiana: La vall de Montalegre is a moderate hike along paths and tracks in the park, signposted as SL-C 145.

De Tiana al turó d'en Galceran is classified as a long hike. It follows paths and tracks in the park to one of its highest points and is marked SL-C 144. El Rocar offers a different option: this circular route, signposted as SL-C 96, passes through the eastern part of the municipality of Tiana, along the Rocar ridge and into the area around the Ermita Mare de Déu de l'Alegria. This gives you a choice between a moderate hike, a long route to a high point in the park and a circular walk. The respective descriptions indicate the type of route and its landmarks.

Wine and recurring events

Tiana has been associated with wine for centuries, and vineyards shape the landscape. At Celler Quim Batlle, grapes are grown and organic white wines are produced within the D.O. Alella. Tiana is also part of this designation of origin. Tast Tiana, the town’s food and wine fair, takes place on the weekend of the small Festa Major around 13 June. Restaurants from Tiana and wineries from the D.O. Alella take part. As this is a recurring event, check the dates and programme for the year you plan to travel.

The Aplec de l'Alegria includes singing the Goigs de la Mare de Déu de l'Alegria; the event takes place every Easter Monday. Nits de música al Jardí Lola Anglada is also a recurring event: the concert series runs every Thursday evening in July. If one of these events is important to your trip, check the programme for the relevant year.

History, art and getting your bearings

The Ermita Mare de Déu de l'Alegria was formerly the parish church of Tiana and was consecrated in 1104. Its described architectural features include a nave with side chapels, an apse in the central nave and an attached bell tower. This is distinct from the new church of the Parròquia de Sant Cebrià, which was consecrated on 22 June 1886. Tiana has preserved the historic Font de Can Comes i safareigs públics complex, with its fountain and public washhouses.

The Jardins de Lola Anglada feature sculptures such as “Família tornant del camp” and “Mare amb nen”, works by Lola Anglada in a realist-naturalist style. The gardens also include a fountain with a ceramic majolica tile panel illustrated by her. The Sala Albéniz adds to the picture of the town’s architectural history: the building is modernist in style and was inaugurated in 1911. These sites reveal different aspects of the cultural heritage, from a former parish church and a preserved fountain-and-washhouse complex to garden art and a building from the early 20th century.

For information about walking routes, there is a park information point on the ground floor of the Observatori Astronòmic de Tiana. Park publications and educational materials are also available there. The observatory provides a calendar of public observing sessions; check it if you’d like to include an observation in your travel plans.
