Colera combines coastal attractions with opportunities for water sports, hiking and cycling, as well as buildings from different periods. When planning your hotel stay, you can first consider whether you would prefer to focus on the coves, activities by and on the water, or the history of the town. These different themes offer practical starting points for planning your trip.

Coast and coves around Colera

Cala Rovellada is a pebble cove that is easy to reach on foot or by car. If you are planning a visit, bear in mind that local conditions may change. Platja del Borró d'Enfora is also located near Colera. Its natural surroundings are characterized by numerous rocks and vegetation; the beach is suitable for anchoring boats.

Platja del Borró de dins (petita de Garbet) can be reached near Colera by boat, on foot or by car. Parking and access conditions at this beach may vary seasonally. The coves can be distinguished by their expressly described features: Cala Rovellada is pebbly, while Platja del Borró d'Enfora is characterized by rocks and vegetation. This lets you choose a stretch of coast according to the focus that matters for your trip.

Water sports, hiking and cycling

The municipality lists sailing, water skiing, kayaking, surfing, sport fishing, Llagut boat trips and diving as year-round water sports and leisure activities. The availability of individual activities may change. If you would like to include a particular activity in your plans, check whether it is available during your travel dates.

Various hiking and cycling routes are also possible from Colera. This gives you two more ways to shape your trip, alongside activities on the water. You can focus your days on hiking or cycling, or combine these interests with the coastal attractions Colera also offers.

Scenery and views

Veta Blanca is a scenic viewpoint in the La Rovellada area. In the Albera area, the zone of greatest geological interest is around Puig d'Esquers, in the municipalities of Llançà and Colera. These two descriptions relate to different aspects of the landscape: the named viewpoint on the one hand, and the area of geological interest on the other.

The Dolmen del Puig d'Esquers is also associated with a landscape feature: it stands in a place with exceptional views over the Empordà. Those interested in prehistoric structures will find a specific link to the landscape here, without the structure being described solely in terms of its view.

Buildings and history

The Ermita de Sant Miquel is a Romanesque church dating from the 12th to 13th centuries. It has a nave and a semicircular apse. The nave forms the church's main space; the apse is the semicircular section. These features provide a clear architectural context.

The Dolmen del Puig d'Esquers is a Neolithic passage tomb with a narrow, pentagonal chamber. It was built between 3200 and 3000 BC. Its tomb type, chamber shape and date range make it a precisely classified example of prehistoric construction.

The Pont del Ferrocarril represents a different period in architectural history: the Eiffel company built the iron railway viaduct in 1878. It is 188 metres long and 20 metres high. Its dimensions and year of construction give a concrete sense of the scale of the structure. There are also two cannons at Els canons.

Putting Colera in context for your hotel stay

When choosing a hotel in Colera, a simple comparison can help: would you like to focus your stay mainly on the coves and water sports, are hiking and cycling routes your priority, or are you particularly interested in the Romanesque church, the Neolithic tomb and the iron viaduct? Your answer sets the focus for planning your trip and directs your attention to the aspects of Colera that matter for your stay.
