El Mas Pinell: Beach, Dunes and Coastal Route
Accommodation in El Mas Pinell
Mas Pinell beach can be understood in terms of its location by the Ter and its connections along the coast: it lies on the river’s right bank, naturally continues La Pletera beach and extends to the boundary with Pals beach. The river and the two beach boundaries therefore provide clear reference points for finding your way around the destination. The route, beach and activities each offer a different focus when planning a stay.
Location and access
The beach can be reached on foot or by car. The main access is via the road between Torroella de MontgrĂ and Palafrugell; a turn-off from this road leads to the Mas Pinell residential area. This road is the main reference point for driving there. The beach can also be reached on foot, so travelling by car is not the only option. You can choose how to get there according to your travel plans.
Coastal route between Pals and Torroella
The route from Pals to Torroella de Montgrà runs along the coast and passes Bassa de l’Anser, near the centre of Mas Pinell. It continues through the coastal dunes of La Fonollera to the Gola del Ter. In addition to the beach, Bassa de l’Anser and a stretch of coast through the dunes provide geographical reference points. If you want to include both the beach and the route in your travel plans, you can take these different focuses into account when shaping your stay.
Activities on the beach and in the dunes
Horse riding is possible on the dunes behind Mas Pinell beach. There is an area on the beach where you can practise surfing, as well as a watersports equipment rental service. The activities differ by location and purpose: horse riding is available in the dunes behind the beach, the surfing area is on the beach, and the rental service offers watersports equipment. Check before travelling whether the rental service will be operating during your stay. This lets you consider the different activities separately when planning.
Dunes as a regional natural area
The dunes on the beaches of the l’Estartit and Pals bays are a particularly sensitive, priority habitat in the nature park. Managing this habitat also involves regulating public access. The nature park context adds a regional conservation aspect to the beach and route as points of reference.
Beach information
A solar-powered emergency intercom is installed at the far end of Mas Pinell beach, at the level of Carrer Cuereta. It was reported to be operational in July 2025; check its status before your visit. In July and August 2026, the municipal lifeguard service was also available at Mas Pinell beach. If you are planning a later stay, check the seasonal information for the year in question.
Choose hotels to suit your travel plans
When looking for a hotel in El Mas Pinell, you can first decide whether the beach, coastal route or one of the activities mentioned will be the main focus of your stay. Then check how the location of a specific property fits your plans. This way, you can factor local reference points into your hotel choice and tailor your search to the actual priorities of your trip.
