Pardines: Mountain scenery, hiking trails and Romanesque architecture
Accommodation in Pardines
Pardines combines nature-focused attractions with specific hiking and cultural destinations. When planning your trip, you can consider the scenic spots, the different routes and the historic buildings separately: each shows a different side of the municipality and has its own focus.
Landscape and natural surroundings
L’estany del Tarter, a small pond in the municipality of Pardines at an altitude of 1,595 metres, lies on the northern slope of the Serra Cavallera. It covers about 1,250 m²; the associated wetland covers a total of 0.19 hectares. These two figures distinguish the pond itself from the total area of the associated wetland.
Nature can also be considered on two scales: L’estany del Tarter is a single pond in the municipality, while Pardines lies within the Parc Natural de les Capçaleres del Ter i del Freser. This places a specific scenic spot alongside a larger protected area, without equating their respective areas or significance.
Hiking trails and different views
The hiking options differ in their destinations and views. The official route “13.De coll de Meianell a Puig CerverĂs” begins at the boundary between Pardines and Vilallonga de Ter. It offers a viewpoint overlooking the Vall de Ribes, the Vall de Camprodon and the mountain landscapes at the headwaters of the Ter and Freser.
The “Pujada al Taga” route starts at Santa Magdalena de Puigsac and climbs almost 900 metres to a prominent summit and viewpoint in Ripollès. By contrast, the “Ruta pels veïnats de Pardines sota l’ombra de Serra Cavallera” hiking route offers views of Pardines, its hamlets and large parts of the Vall de Ribes. This provides different points of comparison: the summit and its elevation gain, views of the town and its hamlets, or a viewpoint over several valleys and the surrounding mountains.
Romanesque buildings and architecture
The Ermita de Santa Magdalena de Pardines, also known as the Ermita de Puigsac, dates from the 12th century. It is located in the hamlet of Puigsac, two kilometres from Pardines. The use of both names, Santa Magdalena de Pardines and Ermita de Puigsac, helps identify the chapel and its location in the hamlet.
Sant Esteve de Pardines preserves the central apse of a former three-aisled Romanesque church. A medieval defensive tower stands above the apse and now serves as both the church bell tower and a clock tower. The surviving apse and the tower’s later function provide two specific points of reference for distinguishing the building’s history from the bell tower’s current role.
Autumn event
An event is also among the local attractions: the “Fira de la Cervesa Artesana i del Rebost de Pardines” has been held in the municipality in autumn for several years. The programme includes beer tastings and suggested pairings. If you would like to include the Fira in your autumn plans, check the dates for the relevant year.
