In Móra D'ebre, river routes, historic buildings, cultural events and local cuisine offer different starting points for planning your trip. Consider which themes you want to shape your stay: walking or cycling routes, a canoe trip, the historic townscape or events centred on literature and the Ebro. With this focus, you can then search specifically for hotels in Móra D'ebre.

Routes along the Ebro and up to the heights

Two GR99 routes in the municipality are available for walking or cycling. One GR99 route connects Móra D'ebre with Ascó and passes through the Pas de l’Ase gorge. Another option is the linear Ruta pel Balcó de l’Ebre between Passeig de l’Ebre and Passeig del Pont. The different endpoints help you find your way: one route heads towards Ascó through the gorge, while the other connects two promenades. Trail conditions may change; check them before setting out.

The restored Sendera al Castell leads to Citel·la and offers scenic views. If you are interested in the La Picossa route, you can start near the hermitages of Santa Madrona and Sant Jeroni: from there, it heads towards La Picossa. It continues to the summit of l’Estel and passes by Cova de la Porca. These details give you several specific route ideas for planning, without comparing the trails using walking times or difficulty levels that have not been provided.

Old town, buildings and culture

The old town is characterised by narrow, historic streets and lies beside Castell de Móra and the priory church. Pont d’arcades is also part of the historic townscape: the current concrete bridge was inaugurated in 1943 and consists of several arches. Guided tours of the castle are organised in summer by prior reservation. If you plan to visit, check what is available for your chosen date and remember to make a reservation.

La Llanterna Teatre presents performances, particularly during the Fira del Llibre Ebrenc and Litterarum; the programme may change. The Fira is a meeting place for authors born in Móra D'ebre or connected with the town. Litterarum brings literary works to the stage in different forms: music, dance, theatre, poetry and magic. Together, the events offer different ways to engage with literature, from meeting authors to combining texts with the performing arts.

The Festa del Riu is also part of the town’s cultural identity. It is considered Catalonia’s oldest river festival and currently features many traditional elements. Sirgador, a coffee-based drink with a special ingredient, is served during the festival. Individual programme items and serving practices may change; if you are planning to attend, it is worth checking the dates.

River landscape and nature

Many Ebro islands and channels are designated as wildlife reserves and included in the PEIN area “Illes de l’Ebre”. A canoe trip for birdwatching runs between Garcia and Móra D'ebre and includes Subarrec Island in Móra D'ebre. It is offered year-round; check current availability before making plans.

Another canoe route has a different focus: “Kayak and memory, un riu republicà” runs between Vinebre and Móra D'ebre, visiting sites of the Battle of the Ebro and passing preserved remains from that period. This makes it easy to distinguish the two experiences by theme: birdwatching on one route, and places and traces of the battle on the other. For a quieter break surrounded by greenery, Parc de l’Aubadera has barbecue areas, fountains, tables and swings, as well as a grove of poplars and elms.

Local cuisine

Clotxa is considered a traditional dish of Móra D'ebre. Together with the coffee-based Sirgador, it offers two different culinary highlights: a dish described as typical of the town and a drink associated with the Festa del Riu. Sirgador is served during the Festa del Riu. Include the festival in your plans, as serving arrangements may change.
