Explore Fuenlabrada De Los Montes through its centuries-old beekeeping tradition, historic buildings, Corpus Christi in June and natural attractions. To plan your trip, you could first consider whether you are particularly interested in local customs, architectural history or the landscape.

Honey and Beekeeping

Because of its centuries-old beekeeping tradition, passed down from generation to generation, the town is called “pueblo de la miel” (honey town). The varieties produced here are “Miel de Mil Flores,” “Miel de Brezo,” “Miel de Romero,” “Miel de Tomillo,” “Miel de Azahar,” “Miel de Eucalipto,” “Miel de Encina” and “Miel de Bosque.” The varieties offered by individual producers may vary.

The Monumento a los apicultores (Monument to Beekeepers) also celebrates this tradition: the sculpture next to Parque de la ConstituciĂłn shows a beekeeper at work.

Buildings and Local History

The Fuente de la Niña, also known as “La Niña” or “La Morita,” is located in Plaza Mayor. The 19th-century bronze figure, part of the fountain, depicts a girl with a swan.

The Iglesia de la Asunción de Nuestra Señora is a 16th-century church combining Mudéjar, Gothic and late Romanesque styles. Inside is an altarpiece by Juan de Holanda and Diego de Aguilar. Its construction date, architectural styles and altarpiece offer several specific points of interest for architecture enthusiasts.

The Rollo de Santa Ana is a medieval granite column at the entrance to the town. It once indicated that the villa had a legal system in place. The column is therefore linked to the town’s legal history, while the church and the Fuente de la Niña showcase other aspects of its cultural heritage.

Corpus Christi in June

Corpus Christi, celebrated in June, is an important festival in Fuenlabrada De Los Montes, featuring the local “diablos” (devils). They appear early in the morning to wake the residents and offer lupins in exchange for donations. During the festival, the streets are decorated with sawdust pictures and messages. Altars are set up in the town center, and hand-embroidered cloths are hung from the balconies. If you would like to include the festival in your travel plans, check the specific dates in advance.
