For a stay in Bolmente, you can choose from a range of experiences: circular routes, a trail connecting two viewpoints, wildlife and nature observation, and a cycling route. There is also a route from a Romanesque church to a petroglyph site, as well as a guided wine tasting to round off a circular route. Which of these experiences shapes your plans depends on whether you prefer hiking, cycling, or focusing on natural and cultural attractions.

Hiking trails and choosing a route

The Ruta del Eucalipto del Médico is a 4.45 km circular route. It starts next to the Miradoiro de Boqueiriño. Different from this is the approximately three-kilometre trail connecting the Miradoiro de Cividade and the Miradoiro de Boqueiriño. This route is suitable for hiking and observing the local flora and fauna. The two descriptions refer to different types of route: for the Ruta del Eucalipto del Médico, its circular layout and length are the main points of reference; the trail between the two viewpoints focuses on the viewpoints and observing nature. When choosing, you can first consider whether you would prefer to plan a circular route or a trail between two viewpoints.

Viewpoints and landscape

The Miradoiro de A Cividade is located more than 500 m above the river. A metal walkway projects several metres out over the canyon from here; it was created by landscape architect Isabel Aguirre. The viewpoint is defined not only by its elevation but also by this distinctive piece of design. During periods of heavy rainfall, you can see waterfalls from here that feed the Sil. If these waterfalls are what interest you, the link to rainy periods is important when planning your visit. There is also a small recreation area at the Miradoiro de A Cividade.

The Miradoiro de Boqueiriño faces the Mosteiro Santa Cristina de Ribas de Sil. The two viewpoints therefore differ in the features described: A Cividade is defined by its elevation, walkway and waterfalls, which are visible at certain times, while Boqueiriño is notable for its position opposite the monastery. Boqueiriño is also the reference point for the start of the Ruta del Eucalipto del Médico, which begins next to the viewpoint.

Forest, church and petroglyphs

A circular route in Bolmente starts at the Romanesque church of Santa María and passes through native forests to the mysterious petroglyph site of da Paxota. The route description thus links a named church as its starting point with a section through the forest and an archaeological destination. For planning your outing, this route offers a different focus from the viewpoints: the church and the petroglyph site along the way take centre stage.

Planning a wine tasting and cycling route

A circular route ends with a guided wine tasting at Bodega Cividade. The winemaker leads the tasting by prior reservation. If you plan to include this, remember to make a reservation before your outing.

The Bolmente's Viewpoints Cycle Tourist Route is not signposted for bicycles; using a GPS device is recommended. This is a specific navigation tip for cyclists, distinct from the advance reservation required for the wine tasting. This way, you can take the particular planning requirements of each experience into account separately, without confusing them with the information about the hiking trails.
