If you are looking for a hotel in Lourenzá, you can plan your stay around Faba tradition, sacred art and historic architecture. The Festa da Faba offers a specific seasonal occasion; the interpretation centre, the collection of sacred art and a shared route section provide other points of interest. This gives you both a set event weekend and cultural or route-based interests to consider when planning your trip.

Faba tradition: knowledge and festival

The Centro de Interpretación da Faba opened in October 2004 to provide information about the legume's characteristics and traditional cultivation techniques used in the Mariña lucense for centuries. In the first room, the exhibition covers the bean's origins and development around the world, as well as botanical and cultural aspects. It thus presents both the bean as a plant and its importance in cultivation.

The Festa da Faba was established in 1990 on the initiative of the Concello de Lourenzá. Its aim was to promote consumption of the legume and increase its price. Every year on the first weekend of October, the festival brings together producers, buyers, traders and consumers of Faba de Lourenzá. The gastronomic celebration of the bean is accompanied by entertainment and cultural events. If you want to plan your trip around the festival, check the specific dates for that year's events before making plans.

Sacred art and architectural history

The Museo de Arte Sacra de Vilanova de Lourenzá is located in the Benedictine church of the Monasterio de Vilanova de Lourenzá, which now serves as the parish church. Its significant collection of sacred art includes goldsmith work, sculptures, paintings, furniture and liturgical vestments. The collection is the main focus here; other sites in Lourenzá highlight architecture and individual historical objects.

The Baroque façade of the Igrexa Parroquial de Santa María de Valdeflores is considered an architectural precursor to the façade of the Obradoiro of Santiago Cathedral. The Capilla de Valdeflores houses a fifth-century Early Christian sarcophagus associated with the Conde Santo. These offer different points of interest in architectural and art history: an architectural connection and a specific object with a historical association.

The construction history of the Pazo de Tovar is also precisely dated: in 1530, Don Antonio de Tovar, a relative of Mariscal Pardo de Cela, built it as a new fortress using the old tower. Its classification as a new building is important: the old tower was used, but the Pazo was built as a new fortress.

Routes and directions

From the Barrio de San Lázaro, the Camiño Natural de San Rosendo follows the Camiño de Santiago together with the Camiño Norte variant as far as Lourenzá. If you are planning to walk this route, check local trail conditions beforehand. At A Cazolga, the route provides access to a recreation area with tables, benches and children's play areas. Check the condition of these facilities before your visit.

As of 26 June 2026, the LU-P-2804 road connects the places of Pedrón and Cazolga. It also links the centre of Lourenzá with the N-634 and the neighbourhood of Cazolga. The two kinds of directions mentioned are therefore clearly distinct: the Camiño describes a shared route as far as Lourenzá, while the LU-P-2804 refers to road connections between the places and junctions named.
