Ceutí: Culture, Art and Routes
Accommodation in Ceutí
Ceutí brings together places of historical and cultural interest, contemporary art and routes. If you are looking for a hotel in Ceutí, it may help to first consider which of these interests you want to shape your stay. The places differ in their subject matter and in the specific conditions for visiting them.
Culture between local history and art
The Casa Museo Antonio Campillo is located in one of the few surviving 19th-century stately buildings in Ceutí’s traffic-calmed historic quarter. The museum traces the artist’s career through clay sculptures, bronzes, plaster works, busts, miniatures, drawings and sketches. Sculptural and graphic works are displayed side by side; the collection encompasses various forms of his artistic work.
The Museo 7 Chimeneas has a different focus. It documents the history of Ceutí through the vegetable canning industry and everyday objects. The house dates from the late 19th century and once served as both a canning factory and a residence. These two uses are part of the history of the same building: industrial production and domestic life come together here.
The Ruinas Árabes represent nine centuries of Ceutí’s history—from the Islamic period in the 11th and 12th centuries to the present day. They are one of the entrances to the Arab alquería of the former Ceptí. The ruins can be seen from outside through a glazed enclosure; visits inside are also possible, especially at Christmas, when the municipal nativity scene is set up there. This seasonal display may vary.
La Conservera offers a different artistic focus: the venue is dedicated to contemporary art, with its halls covering a total of 4,800 m². Another cultural landmark is the Noria del Boticario in Los Torraos, also known as Noria de Los Torraos. Its original structure dates from 1789. The noria is 11 metres in diameter and has 14 spokes and 56 zinc scoops.
Routes and visiting conditions
The 10.000 pasos route is 6.3 km long and starts at the Muralla Árabe of Ceutí. Another type of route is the Carril Bici de Ceutí: it is 10 km long and received the Sendero Azul award in 2023. Route infrastructure may change, so check its current status if you plan to use the Carril Bici.
The Museo al Aire Libre consists of three circuits and can be visited around the clock. However, access to works in public buildings is subject to those buildings’ opening hours. If you want to include these stops in your visit, take the different opening hours into account when planning.
An annual event is the Bajá de San Roque: held on August 7, it is a nighttime pilgrimage from the Ermita de San Roque to the Iglesia Santa María Magdalena. If this event is important to your travel plans, check the date in advance.
