Discover El Espinardo
Accommodation in El Espinardo
El Espinardo brings together brewery history, buildings of the Murcian Huerta, an extensive green space, and recurring festival traditions. The visitor experiences vary considerably: one offers insight into beer production, another into Baroque and historic architecture; Jardín de Tirocosa combines green space with a trial biking facility. The annual festivals in honor of Saint Peter add to the mix. This variety offers several possible areas of focus, rather than presenting all the sites as similar sightseeing destinations.
Brewery History and Tour
The history of Estrella de Levante began in 1963 with the opening of its factory in Espinardo; the factory later became a symbol of the region. Today, Fábrica Estrella de Levante offers visitors a tour of the entire production process, from malting the barley to final bottling. Afterwards, you can take part in a beer tasting. Reservations can be made through the company’s website. The company’s history and the tour complement each other from two perspectives: the factory’s opening in Espinardo and today’s insight into the production process.
Architectural History of the Murcian Huerta
Palacio de los Marqueses de Espinardo is a landmark of Espinardo’s architectural heritage, but it is currently not open to the public. This distinction matters when planning a trip: the building is part of local architectural history, but it is not a public sightseeing destination. Casa Torre Falcón is another example of Huerta architecture: a distinctive Baroque manor house tower dating from the first third of the 18th century. Historically, it served both as an aristocratic summer residence and as the logistical center of an estate shaped by silkworm farming and agriculture. Representative living and the running of an agricultural estate thus went hand in hand here.
Green Space and Trial Bike Track
Jardín de Tirocosa is a fully renovated green space of more than 25,000 square meters, connecting Espinardo and Los Rectores. A large viewpoint sits atop a hill, alongside purpose-built trial biking features. The trial bike track there is the first of its kind in the municipality of Murcia. It covers 1,800 square meters and has five adapted sections; it can host regional championships, training sessions, and beginner courses. The figures show the garden’s two scales: the green space is more than ten times the size of the track. The viewpoint and sports facilities therefore appeal to different interests, while the track does not make up the entire park.
Annual Patron Saint Festivals
The annual festivals in honor of Saint Peter usually take place in late June. The program includes cultural, sporting, and religious activities, including processions, concerts, and sports competitions. It is therefore a festival with several types of events, not just a single religious occasion. If you want to plan your trip around it, check the exact festival dates before booking.
When planning your trip, the most important consideration is the type of occasion: a tour that can be booked and a festival with a seasonal time frame call for different timing decisions than a stay focused on architecture or green space. If you are looking for a hotel, first decide whether a specific event date or a more thematic stay will be the deciding factor.
