Pedra Badejo: Music, History and Landscape
Accommodation in Pedra Badejo
Pedra Badejo can be understood through its local history, music and landscape. If you’re looking for hotels in Pedra Badejo, it helps to first consider what matters most to you when choosing a destination: the historic center, musical connections, or hills and bay.
Culture and local history in Pedra Badejo
Largo Catchás is an emblematic street in the historic center of Pedra Badejo. It was once an important economic and social center for the municipality. Among those who worked there were Hiace drivers and fish and other market vendors. Market activities later moved to Achada Fátima.
In March 2026, the program for the 1 Concelho 3 Ritmos in Pedra Badejo included Tcheka, Princezito, Os Tubarões, Ferro Gaita and Meleny Gomes. This edition was described as the 14th; in the municipality, this edition was also called “3 Ritmos.” A statue of Katchás was located in the event area for this edition.
Hills, bay and harbor
Monte Vigia is in the north of Pedra Badejo, in Achada Fátima. A 26-meter-high iron cross stands on the hill, offering a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings. Praia de Porto Fundo is a small bay behind Monte Vigia at Ponta de Santa Cruz. It has calm waters and a natural landscape. Thus, a hill with expansive views and a small bay offer contrasting landscape experiences.
The harbor is also part of the local history: it was once used mainly as a sea link to the island of Maio. This is a historical reference to Pedra Badejo’s maritime role.

The landscapes differ: from Monte Vigia, the view extends over Pedra Badejo and its surroundings, while João Toro looks out over the green Ribeira dos Picos.
