If you’re looking for a hotel in Dadahu, it’s worth taking a look at the attractions in the surrounding area. Renuka Wildlife Sanctuary, Renuka Lake and Renukaji Mini Zoo each offer a different connection to nature, activities and history. Jamta and Jaitak provide specific road and location details. Depending on whether wildlife, boating, history or the regional setting matters most to you, these places may help shape your choice of Dadahu as a travel destination.

Nature and Activities Around Renuka

Renuka Wildlife Sanctuary is an important natural attraction in the area around Dadahu. According to the district administration, the protected area is well connected to the road network; Dadahu is the nearest town and lies about two kilometres from Renuka. The sanctuary consists entirely of Renuka Reserve Forest and was declared an “Abhayaranya” (wildlife sanctuary). No rights are recognised in this area.

Animals found in the sanctuary include leopard, sambar, chital, barking deer, jackal, sloth bear and porcupine. The sanctuary is therefore a distinct focus for travellers interested in wildlife.

Boating on Renuka Lake is considered the main attraction for visitors to Renuka. This makes the lake an activity-focused destination, distinct from the sanctuary and its forest and wildlife. If boating is important to you, check what is currently available at the lake before visiting.

Places and Road Connections

Jamta is located on the motorable road from Nahan to Dadahu. From Jamta, a climb of about three kilometres leads to Jaitak. These location details answer different questions: Jamta is defined by its position on the road, while Jaitak is described by the climb leading to it from Jamta. For trip planning, keep the distances separate: the approximately two kilometres refers to Dadahu and Renuka, while the approximately three kilometres refers to the climb from Jamta to Jaitak. The two figures describe different location connections and are not distances for a single route.

Accommodation and History

A rest house operated by the State Electricity Board is located in Dadahu, about two kilometres from Renuka Lake. This distance refers to the rest house and the lake; it should not be confused with the approximately two-kilometre distance given for Dadahu and Renuka. If you are considering the rest house as an accommodation option, check availability in advance.

Renukaji Mini Zoo is also located nearby. Its history began in 1957 with rescued wild animals that had been roaming in the forests or had been abandoned; it is considered the oldest zoo in Himachal Pradesh. The two wildlife attractions therefore differ in their focus: the sanctuary is defined by its forest, protected status and species, while the zoo is known for its history of caring for rescued animals.
