The destination of Tikamgarh brings together historic buildings, Jain heritage and religious sites with fairs. The attractions are spread across Baldeogarh and Ahar, as well as other places in the vicinity of Tikamgarh town. They range from a fort overlooking a lake to temples and pilgrimage sites, as well as recurring festivals.

Fort, temple and waterworks in Baldeogarh and Ahar

Baldeogarh Fort stands above Gwal-Sagar Lake. Baldeogarh is also home to the Vindhya Vasini Devi Temple. The two attractions offer different points of interest: the fort is distinguished by its position above the lake, while the temple is a religious landmark. Baldeogarh is a tehsil in Tikamgarh district.

Ahar was once an important Jain centre. It has three ancient Jain temples; one of them houses a 20-foot-tall statue of Shantinath. There is also a pond from the Chadella period with a well-built dam. The pond adds a historic waterworks site to Ahar’s Jain heritage. Together, these sites showcase Ahar’s religious heritage and another facet of its history.
