Ani'am lies 430 meters above sea level and offers views of the Sea of Galilee. Its elevation and views shape the village’s connection to the surrounding landscape. Ani'am Artists’ Village is also located in the moshav of Ani'am, and a blue-marked hiking trail runs nearby along Nahal ‘Eit. These offer different points of reference as you plan your trip: the artists’ village as an attraction in the village, and the hiking trail as an option in the nearby area. When looking for a hotel in Ani'am, you can decide whether to focus on the village itself or also include a hike nearby.

Ani'am Artists’ Village, in the moshav of Ani'am, has a pedestrian street, workshops, artists’ galleries, restaurants, and cafés. Art and dining are both among the features of the village. If you are planning your stay around a particular interest, these different aspects of the artists’ village can help guide you. Individual businesses and their operations may change, so check in advance for current visitor information.

Parking at Eit Waterfall

A large, well-maintained parking lot for the Eit Waterfall viewpoint is on Route 808, a few hundred meters south of the moshav of Ani'am. As infrastructure conditions may change, check the latest information before setting out.

Archaeological Sites in the Northern District

As a distinct regional context, the Northern District also offers archaeological sites at Tel Hazor and Tel Megiddo. Both are among the three tells that preserve significant remains of cities with biblical connections and are closely associated with events from the Bible. Tel Hazor is a biblical tell; visits focus on the upper city. Its features include Solomon’s Gate, with six chambers and two towers dating to the 10th century BCE. The Canaanite palace was used by the kings of Hazor in the 14th and 13th centuries BCE. The Late Bronze Age palace is considered the most elaborate in Israel and one of the most important in the Levant.

Tel Hazor’s waterworks also offer insight into the site’s construction history. An underground water collection system is regarded as a sophisticated, geographically adapted engineering achievement for storing water. The excavated shaft is 45 meters deep, with steps three meters wide cut into its walls. Tel Hazor’s fortifications are considered the best example of their kind in the area stretching from southern Turkey to the northern Negev. These features make Tel Hazor a distinct archaeological site within the Northern District.

Tel Megiddo highlights different features. The Iron Age orthogonal city plan has few parallels in the Levant. The Early Bronze Age temple complex is exceptional in terms of the number of its temples, the continuity of cultic activity, and the documented ritual practices. The Northern District thus brings together a range of archaeological remains: Tel Hazor’s water system, fortifications, and upper city, and Tel Megiddo’s temple complex and city plan. This archaeological perspective complements the place-specific features of Ani'am without replacing the artists’ village facilities or the nearby hiking trail.
