This lets you plan according to each location and distinguish destinations in the town from trips to the surrounding area.

Nature and directions at Taman Etnobotani

Taman Etnobotani is located on the Gua Musang–Kuala Lumpur federal highway, about three kilometres from Gua Musang town centre. From town, it is approximately 500 metres beyond Taman Wangi. This gives you two specific reference points: the approximate distance from the town centre and its location relative to Taman Wangi.

At Taman Etnobotani, visitors can explore various herb-growing areas, hike in the hills, camp, use the Canopy Walkway and view caves. They can also see the habitats of cassowaries and Timor deer, and learn more about the medicinal uses of herbs. The site therefore combines botanical themes with outdoor activities. If you want to plan a specific activity in advance, check the visiting options beforehand.

Getting to Taman Tasik Gua Musang

There is no public bus service to Taman Tasik Gua Musang, also known as Tasik Ketitir. Taxis go there from stations in the old and new towns. It takes approximately ten minutes to walk to the park from the bus and taxi station in the new town. The walking time therefore refers to the station in the new town; taxi connections are available from stations in both parts of town. As transport arrangements may change, check the connection locally before you travel.

Masjid Buluh: Architecture and a place to rest

Masjid Buluh is built from bamboo and was the first mosque of its kind in Kelantan. It is located on the Gua Musang–Kuala Krai road and serves travellers as a place to pray and rest, especially during the festive travel period. The site thus brings together distinctive architecture and a practical role for travellers.

The mosque has basic facilities and a large car park; check their condition before your visit. The MUSE ECOPARK in Gua Musang is also located on the grounds of Masjid Buluh.

Activities on the Sungai Nenggiri

The Nenggiri Challenge, a kayaking event, takes place annually in the vicinity of Gua Musang. Its route runs from the Gua Cha jetty to Kg. Setar and includes an overnight stay at Pos Pulat. Participants include locals as well as visitors from Switzerland, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia. The overnight stay is part of the event itinerary and should be factored into your schedule. Check the event dates in advance.

Kuala Betis is the access point and starting place for activities and attractions along the Sungai Nenggiri. If you are considering different plans on the river, you can distinguish this general access point from the specific route described for the Nenggiri Challenge: it runs from the Gua Cha jetty to Kg. Setar.

Another regional destination: Eco R&R Lojing Highlands

Further afield in the region, Eco R&R Lojing Highlands began operating in June 2016. The site includes a food stall, a prayer room, extensive parking, children’s play equipment, public toilets and seven motels available for rent. Facilities and rental options may change; confirm current availability before relying on them. As a destination further afield in the region, it is distinct from the town’s destinations and the closer places to visit.
