Nha Trang can be explored through a variety of themes: sandy beaches and an island bay, Cham heritage, marine studies, handicrafts, and market life. If you’re looking for a hotel, you can first consider which of these aspects of the destination interests you most. The places and activities offer different highlights—from a sacred Cham site to collections about the sea.

Beaches and Rock Formations

Nha Trang’s sandy beach lies along a striking bay with 19 islands and islets. A notable rock formation within the city is HĂČn Chồng: HĂČn Chồng is on the shore, while HĂČn Vợ is in the sea. Visitors can swim at the beach next to HĂČn Chồng; stand-up paddleboarding is also available there. Conditions and providers for this activity may vary, so check in advance what options are available during your visit. This keeps the beach and water sports as distinct aspects of your planning.

Cham Heritage and Festivals

The Po Nagar Towers stand on CĂč Lao Mountain in Nha Trang. The four surviving towers date from the 7th to the 12th century and form a sacred Cham site where pilgrims still pray and burn incense. Religious life is therefore as much a part of the site as its long architectural history.

Every year, the Thåp Bà Po Nagar Festival takes place at the Thåp Bà Po Nagar Monument Site, from the 20th to the 23rd day of the third lunar month. The date follows the lunar calendar. Bóng dancing and Håt Văn singing are part of the program throughout the festival. Performances are held, among other places, on the stage in front of the mandapa. This timing is useful for planning a trip: the festival is an annual event with a date set by the lunar calendar, not a fixed date in the Western calendar.

Marine Studies and Exhibitions

The Museum of Oceanography houses more than 20,000 marine specimens for scientific purposes, as well as for communication and education. Its aquarium keeps and breeds numerous marine species that represent typical ecosystems such as coral reefs and seagrass meadows. The collection thus explores the sea in different ways, through both specimens and living species.

The exhibitions also include marine resources from the Spratly and Paracel Islands. These exhibits help visitors learn more about Vietnam’s territorial waters and marine resources. Those interested in marine habitats will find a different perspective here than at the beach: the focus is on collections, ecosystems, and the resources on display.

Handicrafts, Markets, and City History

At Trường SÆĄn Handicraft Village, visitors can watch artisans at work on a variety of crafts. These include weaving mats, making conical hats and fishing nets, creating sand paintings and portraits, embroidering pictures, and making traditional musical instruments. The range extends from practical objects to visual and musical works.

The two-story Dam Market is Nha Trang’s main market. Fresh food, household goods, clothing, and souvenirs are sold there. This selection makes the market a distinct place to find a range of everyday goods and keepsakes. If you’d like to experience the city beyond its sights, you can include market visits and handicrafts among your travel interests.

Founded in 1997, the Yersin Museum is located on the grounds of the Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang at 10 Tráș§n PhĂș Street. It displays historical objects and scientific equipment from Yersin’s research. Items include an old Leroy clock, books and newspapers, a Morse transmitting and receiving antenna, a computer, a globe, a telescope, and other distinctive laboratory instruments. Documents and technical equipment offer different insights into the research that the exhibition is dedicated to.

Getting There and Other Interests

Nha Trang is accessible by plane, train, or bus; taxis are widely available within the city. Several spa-like facilities with mud baths and hot springs are located in the hills north of the destination. This setting adds a range of bathing and spring experiences to the city’s other attractions. If you’re looking for a hotel for your stay, you can use your interests—such as beaches, Cham heritage, marine studies, or market life—to guide your choice.
