Discover Dingley Village
Accommodation in Dingley Village
In Dingley Village, visitor attractions range from wetlands and native plants to walking trails, mini golf and a farmers’ market. The reserves each have a different focus: habitats for rare animal species, botanical features or wheelchair-accessible paths. When planning a stay, you can first decide whether nature watching, play and exercise, or a visit to a market will be the deciding factor.
Nature and landscape
Wetlands shape the landscape at Spring Road Reserve, complemented by walking trails and seating. The wetlands are home to several rare bird and frog species. The reserve also has a fenced, off-leash dog area. Check the local operating conditions before your visit if you plan to use this area.
The site’s history is also part of its story: Spring Road Reserve is a former 38-hectare landfill site and forms a link in the Chain of Parks. Its former use and its function as a habitat are two different perspectives on the same place: one describes the site’s past, while the other reflects the importance of its wetlands to rare bird and frog species.
At Rowan Road Reserve, the focus is on a protected area with remnants of original bushland. These include 16 species of native orchids and lilies, as well as the Snow Gum (Eucalyptus pauciflora), which is rare in the region. The orchid and lily species make up a diverse collection of plants; the Snow Gum adds a single tree species that is rare in the region.
At Rowan Woodland, visitors can use nature-walk notes to identify four eucalyptus species. Compared with Rowan Road Reserve, the focus shifts from bushland and the plant species mentioned there to identifying eucalyptus species. When comparing nature destinations, this is about identifying species, while the other is about a protected area and its plant life.
Walking trails and recreation
Holland Avenue Reserve has wheelchair-accessible walking trails. The playground includes a climbing structure with a slide and sliding pole, separate swings, climbing frames and a flying fox. For planning purposes, you can distinguish between the two main features: walking trails on the one hand, and a play area with several named types of equipment on the other. This lets you tailor your visit to the activity you want to focus on.
Goanna Golf Dingley’s two 18-hole mini golf courses are suitable for corporate events, school excursions, celebrations and birthday parties. The occasions listed range from professional and school groups to private celebrations. Mini golf therefore offers a different focus from a walk or exploring nature and plants.
Market visit
The Dingley Village Farmers’ Market offers a culinary highlight: fresh food comes to Dingley Village directly from farmers or food producers. The market is held both indoors and outdoors in park-like surroundings. Check the dates before your visit so you can include the market in your plans.
