Korweinguboora offers several distinct themes to consider when planning a stay: at Spargo Creek, the mineral spring and Brim Brim installation take centre stage, while the Spargo Werribee River Circuit describes a loop through the Spargo Creek Mineral Springs Reserve. Korweinguboora Recreation Reserve adds playground and picnic facilities to these local features.

Mineral spring at Spargo Creek

Spargo Creek Mineral Reserve is on Spargo Creek Road in Korweinguboora and provides access to free-flowing water directly from the mineral spring. Spargo mineral water is of the sodium bicarbonate type and is often called soda water; its taste is sweet. The mineral type and taste give you two distinct characteristics of the water. Before your visit, check the reserve’s facilities again.

Brim Brim: red gum sculptures

Brim Brim is the Wadawurrung word for spring water. Moorabool Shire Council commissioned two sculptures for the mineral spring sites in Ballan and Spargo Creek; they are titled Brim Brim. The Spargo Creek site is in Korweinguboora. The installation there consists of two interconnected works made from locally sourced, 120-year-old red gum. Launched in 2023, the project aims to recognise Indigenous connections to the mineral spring sites.

The name, material and project aim give the installation a linguistic, material and cultural connection to the spring. For travellers who include art in their choice of destination, Brim Brim is a distinct aspect of the Spargo Creek area.

Circuit through the Mineral Springs Reserve

The Spargo Werribee River Circuit is a 15.7 km Grade 4 loop. Its route passes through Spargo Creek Mineral Springs Reserve. The circuit is therefore a route option in its own right, while direct access to free-flowing spring water is a feature of the reserve. Its length and grade help you assess the circuit as a tour focus. Access and track conditions can change; check both before setting out.

Korweinguboora Recreation Reserve

Korweinguboora Recreation Reserve has a playground beside the sports oval. There are also shaded picnic tables and a covered barbecue area with two free electric barbecues; toilets and water taps are available as well. The reserve’s facilities offer a different focus from the spring, art and circuit: here, the emphasis is on play and picnicking. As visitor facilities may change, check what is available before your trip.

The local features offer different points to consider when planning your trip: for the circuit, its length and grade matter; at the recreation reserve, the specific facilities; and at Brim Brim, the installation’s cultural connection. This lets you weigh the walk, facilities and art according to your interests.
