When planning a stay in Gschriet, hiking, scenery and views offer practical points of interest. The Kneipp Mirnock Panorama Circular Trail starts in the village, and the Via Paradiso ends at the Star Balcony in Gschriet. Other highlights include the Slow Trail Mirnock, the herb garden at Spielerhof and the yoga platform along the Kneipp circular trail.

Hiking between a circular trail and a long-distance trail

The Slow Trail Mirnock is 3.1 kilometres long and takes about an hour to walk. It leads from the Alpengasthof Bergfried to the Bergfried HĂĽtte. This circular trail alternates between beautiful flower meadows and shady woodland. Its length and approximate walking time give you a practical framework for fitting a single hike into your daily schedule. If you enjoy experiencing varied scenery along the way, the route combines open meadows with shaded sections.

The Via Paradiso consists of four stages and covers around 55 kilometres. From Döbriach, it follows the southern shore and ends at the Star Balcony in Gschriet, in the municipality of Ferndorf. There are designated parking areas in the Gschriet area for starting individual stages. Check the information for the relevant stage before travelling, as parking arrangements may change. You should also check local trail conditions before setting out.

Kneipp circular trail and nature stops

The Kneipp Mirnock Panorama Circular Trail starts in Gschriet and passes through Gschriet and Glanz. Dense forests and sunny meadows define the route; it also passes numerous mountain farms run by the Mirnock farmers.

There are hand and foot-wading pools along the Kneipp Panorama Circular Trail. Since 2021, one of the seven yoga platforms along the Kneipp Mirnock Panorama Circular Trail has been located at Renates Einkehr. Visitors can see and smell medicinal plants in the herb garden at Spielerhof.

The routes can be compared based on their planning features. For the Slow Trail, the length and approximate walking time are specified; for the Kneipp Mirnock Panorama Circular Trail, the starting point, places it passes through, scenery and stops are the main features. For the Via Paradiso, the number of stages and total distance provide the framework. This lets you choose between a circular hike with a stated duration, a trail with nature stops and a multi-stage long-distance route. At around 55 kilometres, the Via Paradiso is considerably longer than the 3.1-kilometre Slow Trail.

Star Balcony and Star Trail

The Star Balcony is located on Mirnock in the Gschriet-Glanz area, in Ferndorf. From there, you can enjoy an impressive view of Lake Millstatt; the perspective creates the impression of floating between mountain and lake. The Via Paradiso ends at the Star Balcony in Gschriet.

The Star Trail is a technically challenging singletrack for experienced bikers. The trail is marked as closed; check its current status before riding.
