Circular Hiking Trail in Dienersdorf
The marked circular hiking trail in Dienersdorf follows the Saifen stream as far as the sports ground. The Buschenschank Knöbl, which has a children’s playground, offers a place to take a break. A forest path leads to the Teubl Cross, dating from 1777; the trail runs in the direction of the Steiner Cross, known as the Plague Cross. The routes differ: the forest path leads to the Teubl Cross, while the trail runs in the direction of the Steiner Cross. The route is laid out as a loop, and the markings help with navigation. The loop, trail points, and place to rest each provide a different point of reference for planning.
Crosses with Their Own Histories
The Pöltl Cross has its own history of location. It was erected in 1985 on the Dienersdorf high road, replacing a cross that had stood closer to the B54. The high road is where the Pöltl Cross was erected; the B54 gives the location of the earlier cross. The Pöltl Cross is also featured in the Marterlweg gallery. Its history of location and its inclusion in the gallery are two distinct connections: one concerns its construction and the former location of the cross, while the other concerns the Pöltl Cross’s inclusion in the Marterlweg gallery.
The years also refer to different points in time: 1777 is associated with the Teubl Cross, while 1985 is the year the Pöltl Cross was erected. The comparison therefore distinguishes the date of the Teubl Cross from the erection of the Pöltl Cross on the high road.
The features of the Hirt Cross are its main distinction. It is the only wayside shrine in the parish of Kaindorf with a sundial; the small niches in its upper section are decorated with images of saints. A wayside shrine is a small religious monument. At the Hirt Cross, the sundial and the niches with images of saints can be considered distinct design features. This differs from the Pöltl Cross, whose history of location is defined by its date and its relationship to the cross it replaced. The crosses are thus distinguished by their histories and their respective features.
Winegrowing and Other Products
At the Buschenschank Weinhof Knöbl, the focus shifts from trails and crosses to winegrowing. In addition to wine, the winery produces fruit juices, fruit, and pumpkin seed oil. All the varieties of Styrian wine grapes are grown on an area of about 5 ha. The approximate area and the variety of grapes describe two different aspects: the scale of the cultivation and the range of grape varieties. Those interested in winegrowing can thus get an idea both of the size of the area and of the variety. The other products show that the winery’s output is not limited to wine.
When planning your visit, you can choose what to focus on according to your interests: the circular trail connects marked points with a place to rest, the crosses differ in their history and design, and the winery represents winegrowing and other products.
