Pruggern: Hiking and winter sports on Galsterberg
Accommodation in Pruggern
When choosing a hotel in Pruggern, hiking routes and the activities on offer at Galsterberg provide practical points of reference. Consider whether you want to make a hike with a clearly stated duration, exceptional mountain views or winter sports the focus of your stay. This makes it easier to compare the various options according to what you have planned.
Hiking between the Enns, fields and mountains
The easy Pruggern–Moosheim Loop P4 covers 5.7 km in 1 hour and 30 minutes, from Pruggern to Moosheim. Along the way, the Enns flows on your right, with blooming fields and views of Stoderzinken and Kammspitze. The route combines a stated walking time with impressions of the river landscape, fields and mountain panorama.
The Tree Horoscope Trail offers views of Stoderzinken, the Kamm and Grimming. If you want to compare different panoramas, you can set these mountain views alongside those from the P4. By contrast, the Pleschnitzzinken Trail focuses on the route through the old high forest: striking, gnarled spruces, larches and Swiss stone pines define the forest before the trail reaches the tree line.
The half-day hike to Pleschnitzzinken can be reached from Pruggern via the Bottinghaus. On the return route, it passes the Galsterbergeralm, where you can stop for refreshments. As opening times may vary by season, check before your visit whether it will be open during your planned visit. Its time frame also sets this hike apart from the P4, for which a duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes is given.
Winter sports on Galsterberg
The Galsterberg ski area has four cable cars and lifts, with 15 km of pistes. It also includes the Gallisches Kinderland. These are two different aspects of the ski area to consider when planning your trip: the stated pistes and lift facilities, and the additional children’s area.
The natural toboggan run on Galsterberg is 5 km long and operates seasonally. From the village square in Michaelerberg-Pruggern, just 50 metres from the railway station, a ski bus runs to the Galsterberg valley station. If you plan to use the bus service for your day out, check the timetable for your travel date, as departure times may change.
More information to help plan your stay
The Regional Regal is located right next to Pruggern railway station. It offers a wide selection of regional products that can be taken away at any time of day or night. If you have specific products in mind, check current availability, as it may change.
When choosing a hike, both the time required and the different landscape impressions can be helpful. In winter, the pistes and lifts on the one hand, and the seasonal natural toboggan run on the other, offer different points of reference for planning. Tailor your search to the activities you have in mind for your stay.
