Jochberg combines hiking and themed trails with cultural history and seasonal leisure activities. The specific differences between the routes and activities can help you shape your stay around the experiences that matter to you.

Trails and Tours by Theme and Duration

The Jochberg Fountain Trail passes seven historic fountains. The Museum Trail has a different focus: visitors can learn more about local culture and traditions at Jochberg’s museums. The trails differ in whether historic fountains along the route or cultural and traditional exhibits in museums are the main focus.

The moderately difficult mountain hike to Sintersbach Waterfall is a circular route covering 9.3 km, with a walking time of about four hours. Route “212 | Jochberg East” is about 4.71 km long and climbs just under 478 metres. For comparison, it’s not just about kilometres: the waterfall loop’s tour profile also includes its walking time and difficulty level, while route 212 involves an ascent. The roughly four-hour walking time gives you a concrete timeframe for planning your day; also check current trail conditions before setting out on the waterfall loop.

Culture and Mining

According to the Tyrolean monument inventory dated 23 June 2026, the Catholic parish church of St. Wolfgang and the cemetery in Jochberg are protected monuments. The pilgrimage chapel of the Visitation of Mary—known as the Jochbergwald Chapel—is also listed as a protected monument in this inventory.

At the Kupferplatte show mine, the restored mine train takes visitors 150 metres into the tunnel. A visitor guide explains various mining methods, tools and mine workings. The ride and the guided tour offer two different highlights: travelling into the tunnel and explanations of mining methods and tools. This makes the activity a combination of a ride and insights into mining.

Seasonal Leisure Activities

The Jochberg Forest Swimming Pool has a solar-heated 25-metre pool and a toddler pool with a slide. There is also a 3,500 m² sunbathing lawn, a beach volleyball court, table tennis and various play equipment. Swimming is available seasonally.

The Alte Wacht archery course has a short loop of about 1 km with nine animal targets. Equipment rental is available; if you’re planning to visit without your own equipment, it may be useful to arrange rental before your visit.

Well-groomed cross-country ski trails run directly through the region from Jochberg town centre. Seasonal availability and grooming can change; check current conditions before planning to go cross-country skiing. For both the pool and the trails, seasonality is a planning factor, but with a different consideration for each: the pool’s seasonal opening for swimming, and both the availability and grooming of the trails.
