Discover Höhnhart
Accommodation in Höhnhart
Höhnhart lies in the northern foothills of the Kobernaußerwald, in a varied, agricultural and forested hilly landscape. The options range from hiking and mountain bike routes to historic churches and a ski jumping facility. Route lengths and waypoints provide practical guidance for planning, while the building history offers another area of interest.
Hiking trails by distance and destination
The 10 km Drei Tannen Tour starts at the Höhnhart municipal office. It leads through fields and meadows to the junior ski jumping facility and continues to the large Motorik-Park. This route connects an agricultural landscape with two clearly named destinations. Its length is a useful reference point when assessing the tour; compared with the 5.6 km Herbstheimtour, it is the longer route.
The 5.6 km Herbstheimtour also starts at the municipal office. It passes the drinking water reservoir and Hochstraßhöhe, runs through Herbstheim and returns to the municipality of Höhnhart. These waypoints give the tour a different route from the Drei Tannen Tour, whose destinations are the ski jumping facility and Motorik-Park. When planning your day, you can therefore consider the route length and named stops together.
The Marienwanderweg is another hiking option associated with Höhnhart. On the Flugschanzentour, the Litzlbauer Chapel lies along the route; the tour passes through Ainetsreit on its way to the Schmiedbauer cider tavern. If you plan to visit, check availability in advance.
Mountain biking in the Kobernaußerwald
The KTM Kobernaußerwald Mountain Bike Arena has a total of 80 km of consistently signposted routes and covers several municipalities. In Höhnhart, the routes mainly follow quiet side roads and forest tracks through the Kobernaußerwald. The circular route can be started in the centre of Höhnhart. This gives you a specific starting point and a description of the route’s character for planning your ride. The 80 km refers to the total length of the network across multiple municipalities.
Ski jumping facility and events
The Borbet-Allianz-Arena Höhnhart opened in 2009 and has three ski jumps: K-15, K-30 and K-55. Events take place there in both winter and summer. If you would like to watch a training session or a Spring Cup, check the dates and visitor arrangements before travelling. This will help you plan around the specific event dates and applicable visitor arrangements.
Churches and chapels in Höhnhart
St. Jakobs Parish Church in Höhnhart dates back to an initial Romanesque church built around 1100. The church was given a Gothic design in 1540. These details trace a building history from Romanesque origins to later Gothic alterations. The Hubertus Chapel in Höhnhart was built in 1972, providing a considerably later point of reference. Together, these dates provide a timeline for two different religious buildings in the town.
