Münzbach: Hiking Trails, Nature and Culture
Accommodation in Münzbach
Münzbach lies on a gently sloping ridge that stretches from east to west. The hiking trails offer different highlights to help you plan your stay: interactive energy exhibits, nature spots with scenic views, and cultural and historical themes. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Münzbach, you can first decide which activities you would like to focus on: a shorter circular trail, a viewpoint or a longer cultural and historical hike.
Hiking Trails and Nature Spots
The Münzbach Energy Trail is a circular route about 2.4 kilometres long. It starts and ends at the Münzbach sports field, Arbinger Straße 40, 4323 Münzbach. At interactive stations, you can discover energy in a playful, engaging and hands-on way using all your senses; the stations focus on different forms of sustainable energy generation.
The Senses Trail offers two different route lengths; the shorter option takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to walk. Along Taferlweg, not far from the Senses Park, the trail passes the Meier Pond biotope. It also leads to the protected Koppler Pine, a landmark of Münzbach. From the Koppler Pine, you can enjoy far-reaching views across Münzbach, from Ötscher to Traunstein and into the Mühlviertel region. Felsenruhe, a resting place and special spot of natural energy where you can experience pillow weathering up close, is located not far from the town centre.
For planning purposes: the Energy Trail is about 2.4 kilometres long; the walking time of about 1.5 to 2 hours for the Senses Trail applies to the shorter option. The two trails therefore offer different planning information: an approximate distance for the Energy Trail and a walking time for one of the two Senses Trail options.
The M1 – Great Circular Hiking Trail starts and ends at Münzbach’s new market square. There is an information board and informational material there, and hikers can park their cars. The M1 starting point is therefore different from that of the Energy Trail, which starts and ends at the sports field.
Cultural Hike and Longer Route
The Enzmilner Cultural Trail presents the rich history of Windhaag, Altenburg and Münzbach at 50 stations. Its main route is 12.8 kilometres long and leads via Windhaag, the ruins, Siebenkirchenblick, Münzbach, Altenburg and the wildlife enclosure before returning to Windhaag. At 12.8 kilometres, this main route is considerably longer than the Energy Trail, which is about 2.4 kilometres long. This lets you choose between a shorter circular trail with energy stations and a longer cultural and historical route with several named waypoints.
