Lohnsburg am Kobernaußerwald is shaped by the 722-metre-high Hochkuchlberg, which divides the municipality into two distinctly different halves. The higher southern part lies on the slopes of the Kobernaußerwald and is mostly covered by forest. This creates a contrast in the landscape for your stay between the striking mountain and the forested southern part. The leisure activities also offer a range of options—from a steep climb to a viewpoint to garden and sporting activities. The following places and routes can help you tailor your stay to your interests.

Hochkuchlberg and trails

The HOCHKUCHLRUNDE leads to Hochkuchl, followed by a steep climb to the Hochkuchlbergkreuz, which offers panoramic views. The TURM RUNDE takes a different route: along the Haweg forest trail, it descends through the forest to the Riedlbach. This gives you two clearly different routes to choose from—a climb to the cross and a descent along a forest trail to the stream. If you compare the two options, their different directions are a practical point to consider when planning. Conditions on the TURM RUNDE may change, so check them before setting out.

Fruit experience garden and herb area

The Lohnsburg Fruit Experience Garden covers 2.2 hectares and includes a wet meadow with three biotopes. Within the fruit experience garden is the Hochkuchl herb and berry garden, which covers 1,500 m². These figures give you two different scales: 2.2 hectares for the entire site and 1,500 m² for the named herb and berry garden. This makes it possible to distinguish the site as a whole from its specific herb and berry area. Site details and garden features may change, so check them before your visit.

Ski roller trail in the Kobernaußerwald

From April to November, the Innviertel Ski Roller Centre offers a training and competition trail with a total length of 6,170 metres. It can be divided into four individual routes ranging from 1,300 to 3,300 metres in length. The total route and individual routes therefore indicate its scale in two ways. The trail runs along the ridge of the Kobernaußerwald at an altitude of between 670 and 720 metres above sea level. Athletes have access to toilets, showers and changing facilities; there is also ample parking directly at the centre. As seasonal availability and facilities may change, check both before travelling.

Views and a cycling break

The viewing platform at the Kobernaußerwald lookout tower offers panoramic views stretching from the Bohemian Forest to the Alps. This differs from the viewpoint at the Hochkuchlbergkreuz, reached after the steep climb on the HOCHKUCHLRUNDE: at the lookout tower, the platform provides the panoramic views, while at the cross, the view is part of the route. The Römerradweg rest stop in Lohnsburg invites cyclists to stop and refuel at any time. So, alongside the viewpoints, you will also find a dedicated spot for a cycling break.
