Kamenari combines a clearly defined natural area with specific accommodation features and local cultural history. Perunika Guesthouse focuses on rural and ecological tourism, with nature, clean air, peace and quiet at its heart. Bukova Gora and the area's historical connections add further topics to help you plan your trip.

Bukova Gora: Forest and Protection Rules

The Bukova Gora protected area covers 251.97 hectares and extends across Kamenari and Kostel. The ancient beech forest is home to red deer, roe deer, wolves, buzzards and woodpeckers. These species are part of the area's ecological character; no specific wildlife sightings are guaranteed during a visit.

Camping and lighting fires outside designated areas are prohibited in Bukova Gora. During your stay, follow the current signs on site and the protected-area rules. This allows you to take local restrictions into account when planning a nature getaway.

Accommodation and Surroundings

Perunika Guesthouse is in Kamenari, 15 km east of Elena, and offers three double rooms. Guest facilities include a fireplace, a self-catering kitchen, an oven and a barbecue. Before booking, confirm current availability, room capacity and details of the facilities that matter to you directly with the guesthouse.

By prior request, Perunika can offer a whole roasted lamb or pig. Arrange this request in advance and confirm availability directly with the guesthouse. This is a specific option offered by the property, not a general dining offer for the village.

The distance is measured from Perunika: a reservoir is about 5 km from the guesthouse and offers opportunities for fishing, walking and picnicking. If you plan these activities, check access and local fishing rules on site.

The Mutafite guest complex is in the Mutafite area of Kamenari. A municipal tourism listing dated November 23, 2020, describes four houses, a snack bar, barbecue facilities, spacious courtyards and children's playgrounds. It also lists walks in the Balkan Mountains, fishing, a mountain guide, and local and national cuisine. As the description dates from 2020, confirm current availability, facilities and services directly with the complex.

Culture and Getting There

Kamenari has a Muslim place of worship dating from the late 19th century. Alongside the natural area, it provides a distinct point of reference for the local history.

A municipal news item dated July 8, 2019, reports a communal Kurban for health, at which Christians and Muslims came together for a shared meal. The news item describes it as the first event of its kind. It should therefore be understood as a one-off historical occasion, not as an established or current series of events.
