Polski Trambesh is shaped by predominantly flat terrain and the course of the Yantra. To the east, the land transitions into gently rolling terrain; the lowest point lies along the river. The river and changes in elevation provide the municipality with distinctive geographical landmarks.

Terrain and River Landscape

Elevations in the municipality range from 30 to 360 metres. The terrain is predominantly flat, but changes character in the east, where it becomes gently rolling. This creates a clear contrast between the mostly level terrain and the more varied eastern part of the landscape.

The Yantra forms numerous meanders as it flows through the municipality. Its drainage basin covers 86 square kilometres. Together with the lowest point along the river, this makes the Yantra an important point of reference for finding your way around the area—not just a name on a map.

Mineral Water Near Polski Trambesh

Hyperthermal mineral waters were discovered near Polski Trambesh in May 1970. They were described as having temperatures of 44 to 47°C and a flow rate of 50 to 60 litres per second.

Rehabilitation in Polski Trambesh

A specialised hospital for long-term treatment and rehabilitation operates in Polski Trambesh under the name “Mineral Baths.” Its hydrotherapy facilities include a whirlpool for hydromassage and individual baths for the whole body, feet and hands. Treatments are carried out under the supervision of a physiotherapist. If you would like to include hydrotherapy in your travel plans, ask the clinic directly about current availability.

History Museum and Cultural Events

The History Museum in Polski Trambesh opened on 8 September 2007. Its galleries are devoted to archaeology, ethnography, the Bulgarian National Revival, and modern and contemporary history. The historical scope therefore extends from archaeological topics to the present day.

The Cultural Days are linked to the town holiday. In 2018, they were scheduled to take place in Polski Trambesh from 1 to 8 September. Another cultural programme, “Spring on the Yantra,” involves settlements across the municipality and includes ritual holidays celebrated by Bulgarians and the ethnic groups living there. These two examples illustrate different aspects of the cultural calendar: set dates for the Cultural Days and a programme that draws on the traditions of several communities.

Harvest Festival and Regional Cuisine

The Harvest Festival takes place in Polski Trambesh every September. It celebrates traditional regional fruits and vegetables and dishes made from them. The festival showcases locally grown produce, pogacha bread, regional appetisers and characteristic recipes from the municipality’s settlements. In this way, it brings together regional produce and the culinary traditions of different places within the municipality.

The Pavel Festival is also among the municipality’s culinary events: in 2018, the festival in the village of Pavel celebrated tomatoes, peppers, traditional dishes and vegetables. If you are planning a visit around a particular event, check the current dates in advance.

Getting There and Planning Your Stay

For road travel, the I-5 between Ruse and Veliko Tarnovo, part of International Transport Corridor 9, and the I-3 between Byala and Pleven are relevant. When looking for a hotel, you can first decide what you would like to focus on during your trip: the river landscape, the museum, rehabilitation or a festival taking place on specific dates. This helps you tailor your plans to the things that matter for your stay.
