The Church of the Annunciation in Gospić was built in 1783. It is a rare example of sacred architecture for a settlement on the Military Frontier in the Lika region. The building that houses the Lika Gospić Museum has a different historical role: this cultural monument from the late 18th century served as an administrative building and residence for the colonel general of the Lika Regiment during the Military Frontier. The permanent exhibition Terra Viva takes visitors on an archaeological journey through Lika’s history, from prehistory to the end of the Middle Ages. Another permanent exhibition, on ethnography, is housed in a traditional Lika log cabin in the museum courtyard.
History can also be encountered in the town’s public spaces. A bronze monument to Tesla stands in Nikola Tesla Square; it was the first identical monument of its kind in Croatia. The 19th-century sculpture Water Woman Marta is located in the centre of Gospić and is considered a symbol of the town. In Smiljan, near Gospić, the Nikola Tesla Memorial Centre opened on 10 July 2006. Before that, Tesla’s birth house had been reconstructed and brought together with a new museum exhibition, surrounding monuments and new buildings.

Terezijana is an educational trail along an old Austro-Hungarian road, built in 1786 to connect Gospić with Karlobag. The trail runs for three kilometres from Baške Oštarije to a viewpoint above Konjsko.
