Kupinečki Kraljevec combines a forest hike with tangible evidence of local architectural and school history. Information about the route, building dates and historic building features can help you plan the focus of your stay between nature and culture.

Forest hiking on the slopes

Kupinečki Kraljevec lies on the western slopes of the Vukomeričke gorice. The Šumske šetnice Kupinečkog kraljevca forest walking route runs there. It is about 10 kilometres long, takes approximately three hours and comprises four loop sections: Sv. Ivan, Sv. Rok, Vrbanička and Okretaljka. The approximate duration helps you plan the hike as a longer activity during the day.

You can drive to the bus stop by the school in Kraljevački brijegi for the hike. For an organised hike on 15 March 2026, bus 161 departed from Savski most at 9:25 a.m. If you are planning your own journey, please check the current timetable and local conditions at the access point.

Buildings and local history

The protected cultural heritage in Kupinečki Kraljevec includes the traditional residential building at Potočka cesta 4, designated Z-2995, and the traditional residential building with farmstead at Kraljevečki brijegi 174, designated Z-2994. Raspelo i poklonac is also part of this cultural heritage, designated Z-2647. If you plan to visit the two residential properties, check their condition and access in advance.

The Chapel of St John the Baptist was built in 1903 as a simple single-nave building. It is 20 metres long and 8 metres wide. Its construction date, basic form and dimensions help put the chapel into context. The farmsteads, by contrast, feature several building components with different uses.

The fully preserved traditional farmstead of the Hobolić family includes a residential building dating from 1924, a Komora and a hayloft dating from 1893, a stable with a hayloft, and a kitchen. At Tradicijski objekt Lončar, a traditional farmstead is partially preserved. It comprises a brick-built kitchen, a sukačnica with a bread oven, a woodshed and a well; the listed structures were built around 1935. In chronological terms, the Hobolić farmstead’s components from 1893 and its residential building from 1924 predate the buildings at Lončar, which were built around 1935.

The school’s history also offers insight into the development of the place. The local school operated as an independent school from 1877, became affiliated with the school in Brezovica in 1958, and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1977. These dates distinguish its earlier independent phase from its later affiliation with the school in Brezovica.

Ivanje and local tradition

Ivanje is a recurring local tradition in Kupinečki Kraljevec, bringing together old customs, music, dance and social gatherings. Guests of all generations are welcome. If you would like to plan your trip around Ivanje, check the date of the relevant event in advance.
