The Municipality of Slivno is a coastal municipality in the Neretva Valley. The Slivno Ravno region, officially the Municipality of Slivno, comprises 18 settlements at the confluence of the Neretva and the Adriatic. The municipality includes 22 kilometres of coastline between the mouth of the Mala Neretva and Moračna Bay. Numerous coves, peninsulas and several smaller islands shape this stretch of coast.

The picturesque coves have pebble beaches. Their relative distance from larger settlements is considered a reason for peaceful, relaxing stays. This means that the coastal municipality as a whole is not the only relevant factor when choosing where to stay: coves and peninsulas shape the landscape, while individual places offer different highlights, from culture and wine to water sports.

Coastal towns and beaches

Klek lies in a cove surrounded by olive groves and has long pebble beaches. Rajska plaža is suitable for sunbathing; Klek also has sports and leisure facilities. Duboka is a small, quiet cove beside a pine forest, with a pebble shore. In Duba, the beach and sea are considered the main attractions. The coastal towns therefore differ in their described features: Klek, with its olive groves and long beaches; Duboka, a small cove by the pine forest; and Duba, where the beach and sea are the main draws.

History and culture in Klek

Klek's historical landmarks include the necropolis with stećak tombstones dating from the 14th century, the Nonković Tower from the 17th century, and the ruins of Smrdan-grad above Klek, also from the 17th century. Chronologically, the necropolis is the oldest landmark. The Stećak Gallery is a meeting place for visual, performing and other artists, adding a cultural focal point to the historical sites.

Wine and views in Komarna

Komarna has exceptionally clear sea and is shaped by gentle Maestral winds. Vineyards cover its slopes. Terra Madre's vineyards in Komarna span about 16.55 hectares; products from these vineyards are certified organic. Vinarija Terra Madre includes a wine cellar, a tasting room and a terrace. Tastings of Plavac mali, Pošip and rosé are offered; Vinarija also serves homemade pršut, cheese, olives and bread. The terrace offers views of the sea, the Pelješac Peninsula and the outlines of the islands of Brač and Hvar. For travellers interested in wine and food, Komarna offers a different focus from places associated with beaches and water sports.

Water sports at the Neretva Estuary

Blace's location at the mouth of the Neretva and the summer winds attract kitesurfers and windsurfers. At the Neretva Estuary, shallow water and steady winds are considered particularly suitable for beginner kitesurfers. Schools in the estuary area offer kitesurfing lessons and equipment rental. If lessons or rentals are important to you, check current availability in the Neretva Estuary area.

Views from Slivno Ravno

Slivno Ravno lies at an altitude of about 229 metres above sea level, offering views of Pelješac and the surrounding islands. This adds a distinct vantage point to the coastal coves. When choosing a place to stay, you can weigh whether the coastal character or the views from Slivno Ravno are more important for your visit.
