If you are looking for a hotel in Juradi, you can first consider which themes you want to shape your stay: wine, historic buildings, hiking trails or cycling. Alongside Juradi’s connection with wine, the area’s cultural and landscape features are also part of the host municipality of Buzet. They range from the medieval old town to trails with different routes and historic stops.

Juradi’s connection with wine

Vina Jurada is associated with the address Juradi 4 in Buzet. Its 2024 Teran vintage received a total of 93 points and a gold medal from the Vinistra jury in 2026. The award applies to this vintage; it is a specific point of reference for travellers interested in Istrian wine.

Buzet’s old town and crafts

Buzet’s historic centre dates back to the Middle Ages and lies on a hill above the fertile Mirna Valley. The Vela and Mala town gates have survived in the old town; both date from the 16th century. Together with the hilltop location, these buildings provide a clear historical context for the town.

Buzet’s Local History Museum is located in the old town, in the Bigatto Palace, built in 1639. One of the museum’s special insights into local crafts is a comb-making workshop with a hand-operated machine, tools and products. It is considered the only workshop of its kind in Istria. The Old Town Bakery also preserves part of the craft history: it survives in an authentic building with its original bread oven.

Hiking trails and their different highlights

The host municipality of Buzet has two hiking trails that cater to different planning needs. The Minjera Trail is described as an 11-kilometre route taking about three hours. It also leads to the remains of the former mineral-processing site, open-pit mines and the ruins of St Peter’s Church. The route combines a stated distance and approximate duration with stops linked to industrial heritage.

By contrast, the Seven Waterfalls Trail follows a circular route: it leads from Buzet (Istrian Waterworks) via Selca, Glistonija, Kuhari and Kotli, then back to Buzet (Istrian Waterworks). Comparing the trails lets you weigh a route with a specified distance and duration against a loop whose course is described through several places. The two descriptions have different emphases: the Minjera Trail also focuses on the history of mining, while the Seven Waterfalls Trail highlights the sequence of stops.

Rural character and cycling

Kotli offers another perspective on the municipality’s rural heritage. Its protected village landscape includes preserved farmsteads, baladurs and a watermill. These features are quite different from Buzet’s town gates and museum, adding a rural dimension to the area’s history.

For cycling enthusiasts, the Škrbina downhill course is a destination in its own right. It is located near Buzet town centre and has hosted several international competitions. This competition history refers to past events, not to a current schedule.

Putting your travel options in context

You can weigh the topics according to your personal interests: the Teran vintage offers a specific connection with wine; the museum, town gates and bakery represent architectural and craft history; and the two hiking trails differ in route and stated length. The 2025 edition of Subotina po starinski was presented as an open-air re-creation of a traditional folk market associated with the turn of the 20th century.
