Kranjci: Routes and Cultural Heritage
Accommodation in Kranjci
Kranjci offers concrete starting points for planning your trip: the route to the Church of Sv. Flora, the Bella Vista cycling route towards the village, and cultural themes surrounding Terra Fameja. The routes vary in duration and surface; there is also the oral and cultural heritage, as well as traditions surrounding the Feast of Saint Flor. To choose what suits you, you can decide whether route length, connection with nature, or local traditions should be the main focus.
The Route to the Church of Sv. Flora
The Sv. Flora tourist route leads from Kranjci to the Church of Sv. Flora through wooded areas and along rural paths. It takes about 20 minutes on foot and can also be done by bicycle. The approximate walking time provides a guide for planning your walk. The church and rural route also give the trail a clear destination and landscape connection.
A rest bench and an information board with a QR code were installed below the Church of Sv. Flora in Kranjci on 26 May 2026. If you want to use the QR code, check that its destination is still active before relying on it.
The Bella Vista Cycling Route
The Bella Vista cycling route leads from the upper part of Labin towards Kranjci. The challenging route takes two to two and a half hours. Of its total distance, 9 kilometres are on asphalt and 21 kilometres on gravel, making gravel the longer of the two stated sections. The duration and surface provide different criteria for planning: the time helps you estimate the scale of the route, while the breakdown of surfaces specifies the terrain. Compared with the approximately 20-minute walk to the Church of Sv. Flora, Bella Vista takes considerably longer. The directions also differ: the Sv. Flora route leads from Kranjci to the church, while Bella Vista leads from the upper part of Labin towards Kranjci.
Terra Fameja and Cultural Heritage
The “Terra Fameja” project helps preserve Labinština’s rich oral and cultural heritage. It includes stories, legends, games, Šćorice, and songs collected over many years by the late Božo Glavičić. Glavičić was a storyteller and guardian of tradition. While the project has a regional scope, in the settlement of Kranjci it particularly highlights natural and cultural heritage, especially the route and the Church of Sv. Flora.
A Feast of Saint Flor
At a Feast of Saint Flor in Kranjci, visitors could view an open-air ethnographic collection and dance to traditional music played on sopile. They could also taste wines made from indigenous grape varieties grown in the surrounding vineyards. As a visitor experience, this particular feast differs from Terra Fameja: it focuses on viewing, music, dancing, and tasting, while the project focuses on preserving oral and cultural traditions.
