Medvidići: Hiking and Cycling
Accommodation in Medvidići
Medvidići can be explored via two specific route profiles: the San Lorenzo II circular hiking trail and the Faragude + Kontija MTB route. Both pass through the village, but differ in activity and distance. Vina Prekalj and nearby Sveti Lovreč offer additional insight into wine and history in the wider destination of Općina Sveti Lovreč.
Hiking and mountain biking
The San Lorenzo II circular hiking trail (719) passes through Medvidići on its route between Čehići and Rajki. It is 9.9 km long, with 145 m of positive elevation gain. For planning purposes, the distance and elevation figures provide guidance; GPS recordings may vary slightly. Check the trail conditions before setting out.
The Faragude + Kontija MTB route also passes through Medvidići, between Bralići and Montižana. It is a circular route covering 27 km—considerably longer than San Lorenzo II. The route reaches the San Servolo Bikepark. The original XC course there was later expanded with trails of varying difficulty. Before setting out on an MTB ride, check trail conditions and signage; it is best to confirm the bike park’s layout and access on site.
Wine and Malvazija
Vina Prekalj is associated with wine production at the address Medvidići 1 in Sveti Lovreč. In the 2026 edition, Vina Prekalj received gold for its 2025 Malvazija istarska; another 2025-vintage Malvazija received silver.
Cultural heritage in the wider destination of Općina Sveti Lovreč
Nearby Sveti Lovreč is considered one of the best-preserved medieval fortified towns in Istria. Its circular shape dates back to a prehistoric hillfort on the hilltop. In the 14th century, the town walls were extended and expanded when Sveti Lovreč was the seat of the captains. The fortified complex includes the Funtanela Tower, a nearby triangular tower, and a bell tower that formerly served as a defensive tower.
The Church of St. Martin adds art and furnishings to this architectural heritage. Petar Nakić (Pietro Nacchini) created its organ in 1735; it was restored in 2013. The church also has one of the oldest surviving ensembles of frescoes in Istria, including recently restored frescoes in the north and south apses.
The Put vode circular hiking trail (Istra Trails No. 720) also runs within the municipality of Općina Sveti Lovreč. It is 11.2 km long and lies within the municipal area. The trail starts at the restored town spring in the center of Sveti Lovreč, near Velika vrata, connects several water sources, and returns to the same spring. Its length, circular route, and starting point distinguish this regional trail from the routes that pass through Medvidići.
Galerija Placa is located at Trg Placa 3 in Sveti Lovreč. As a gallery and information center, it provides information about the tourist offerings of Sveti Lovreč and central Istria. Check the current service information before visiting.
